I'm always amazed how the same people reportedly staying vigilant against tyranny and jack boot thugs... cheer at the idea of their local police force being as heavily armed as the military.

It is true about the second amendment mostly being due for the right to bare arms in case of tyranny in government among other issues, but we have militarized criminals getting weapons illegally or modifying them in their terrorist camps or mother's homes.
Why would we want the cops confronting these people without the best things at hand they could have? In that regard to me your reasoning makes no sense. Do I maybe have what you are saying wrong?

His administration is doing exactly what he wants. The question should be what is wrong with the populace?

Don't have the money? RAISE TAXES!
Yep, raising taxes has worked out great so far.

When there's no military immediately available to handle situations like, oh I don't know, San Bernardino?

Military dictatorship? Lol. What do you prefer? "Safe places" where we hug the terrorists and they go away?

If the federal govt would protect citizens' safety and enforce our border local govt wouldn't need such equipment.

Nothing is wrong with people who want their communities adequately protected. These Muslims have declared war on us. They have highly sophisticated weapons, and as we just found out they are making pipe bombs to use on us.

The FBI has come out and said they are completely overwhelmed by the amount of radical Islamic jihadis in this country. They can't keep track of them all. There are 950 ISIS cells already here they are trying to monitor. There are another over 250 foreign Islamic radicals they are watching. And that's only the ones they know about.

Local police have never had to deal with this before. They will be the ones dealing with these Muslim terrorists in our cities. I want to give them everything they need to protect our communities and to protect the brave police who put themselves in harms way for our safety. If your husband, daughter, or brother was called out to fight these monsters wouldn't you want them adequately equipped?

30% are out of work.
10% work for government.
A great deal get hand outs from government.
We doubled people on disability under Obama so much of that was dubious.

So we have a majority hand out class voting stupids in to maintain benefits that probably should never have gone more than 6 months.

Seems to me we take away any citizenship and status away from known such individuals and get rid of them.

Sorry, but taxpayers paid for that equipment thru federal taxes. The money didn't fall out of the sky like liberals seem to believe.

Taxpayers bought that equipment for the common defense of the nation...not for municipalities.

If your local PD needs an armored vehicle, buy one. You've got no right to a free one courtesy of the federal government. If you can't afford one, raise your local taxes to pay for it. My taxes are for the military....not for the drooling desires of your local PD with Gestapo-like ambitions.

I have lots of federal surplus goods. Guess what? I paid for it.
