Australia's parliament has passed legislation to strip dual nationals of their citizenship if they are convicted of terrorism offences or found to have fought with banned groups overseas.
Australia passes anti-terrorism law to strip citizenship

Obama's leadership is severely lacking. The Left will never let such a common sense law pass in US.

Good on Australia to take the lead, and put the interests of their own citizens first over political correctness.

That's a very sound law. France should have done that.

France to strip five linked to 2003 Morocco attack of citizenship | Reuters

France plans to strip five dual nationals of French citizenship for their part in a 2003 bombing in Casablanca that killed at least 45 people, the interior minister said on Tuesday, stepping up plans to combat terrorism.
While Britain last year unveiled powers to strip suspected Islamist militants of their passports temporarily, France has so far used the judgement sparingly even though hundreds of jihadists from France have joined Islamist groups in Iraq and Syria.

???? Right now, an american citizen who applies for citizenship in another country loses their american citizenship. No crime is necessary.

You misunderstood.

This law is about immigrants who come to US, become US citizens, hold dual nationality. They commit terrorism, they should then be stripped off their US citizenship and sent home packing.

This law in US is not there right now.

Natualized (those with dual citizenship) can already have that removed in the United States.

One reason is "Membership in subversive groups".

It is here.

How about adding American born citizens who hold dual nationality to the list. Deport them to their Muslim ancestral country as well.

Natual born citizens can not have that removed nor should the government be able to.

All the same, this stuff isn't difficult to check before starting a thread.

OK, I agree with the sentiment. But I'm wondering about the details. Seems like it would be unwise to strip US citizenship until *after* the convicted person has served his/her sentence.

I feel even those born in US, but hold dual citizenship should be deported to the country of the second nationality they hold.

When the Muslim population reaches 5% and they get bolder, that's when these laws are helpful.
