We had an active shooter response team training one mile away from the convention hall shooting. They got there after the shooting was over. Yes; we did eventually bring down the shooters; but they did pull off most of what they planned. How long does it take to drive one mile; especially when you already have all the equipment you need? Two shooters can easily empty one or two magazines in less time than any response team can answer the original call - by the time they say that they are on the way; it could be over.

So here you have the best equipment and the best people close to the massacre; but not close enough. Even if they were there; there is a chance that their protocol might have prevented intervention?

The only people that can effectively stop any attack are the people (victims) in the immediate area. We have to develop policies that help the potential victims fight back. Running or hiding, like Homeland Security wants us to do while we are calling 911, will not save any lives in these mass shooting or attacks. The only hand you will get is at the end of your own arm!

good points. The idea that there will be some one else to save you is false. We need to be prepared to protect our selves.

No, our govt is not protecting us from terrorism. It is contributing to it with our foreign policies such as "funding 'allies'", outsourcing military operations to 'allies', etc.
The people at the top are all self serving, power hungry, war mongerers who don't care about the consequences of their actions... only about getting richer and lining their pockets.

Is the govt deliberately trying to allow terrorists to infiltrate our society so we can be destroyed? No

Is political correctness causing the govt to believe all immigrants are equal and not properly filter out people who are high risk? Absolutely

It's scary, I had repeated nightmares about ISIS two nights in a row. Never happened under Bush.

As long as the United States goes traipsing around the world meddling in the affairs of other nations, we're inviting terrorism onto our shores.

And the government can't really protect you from it.
