Putin’s goals, with regard to his involvement in Syria, ARE clear…to become the region’s go-to nation when trouble looms by doing what Obama refuses to do…defeat ISIS. Putin wants to be the power and the influence peddler in the Middle East, not only to expand his and Russia’s sphere of influence but also to take that sphere of influence away from the United States. Both Putin and the more moderate Arab nations see Obama for exactly what he is…weak, ineffective and allied with ISIS.

I think Jordan, Oman and Tunisia (the only really more moderate Arab nations) would disagree with that assertion.
Putin's ridiculous threats are for internal consumption only as Russia's economy is teetering and the has the country engaged in two quagmire wars of choice. His interest in defeating ISIS is secondary to keeping a Russian friendly regime in Damascus. He loses a mediterranean base and a near stranglehold over European natural gas supplies the minute a non-Russian aligned government takes power.
Jesus Christ, the GOP narrative continues to reek. Even if President Obama got authorization from our GOP-obstructionist Congress to nuke the entire ME region and completely eliminate all traces of ISIS, Pubs would still find something to complain about.
ISIS brought Russia into the mix, and must suffer the consequences militarily. Putin is not saddled with the pathetic brand of Congress our great President is. He can do what he wants, and I wouldn't be surprised if he unleashed great nuclear power on ISIS, with civilian casualties being quite extensive.
Had our pathetic Congress not hampered our President, it is very likely that such an option would not have been necessary. Once again, Republicans are THE problem.
Afghanistan, don't know much about warfare, tactics or geography, thanks for the insight.
Putin threatens the use of nukes and you blame Obama, brilliant example of the Con mind.
We knew where Bin Laden was within a five mile radius. A single nuke, or canister of VX done in a quiet manner, would have ended Bin Laden and sent warning to all other Muslim countries thinking we could be attacked without reprisal. We should have never sent our young off to die in a country that wasn't worth two cents.

Let Putin do what he wants in Iraq and Syria - better him than us.
