But if the President uses ISIL (even though it's more accurate) he's being .... what? Uppity?
Gee, that's not a very subtle jab.
I'll use ISIL. It's more accurate, and it has the added bonus of pissing people off. A win-win.
It's not accurate. It's what the group calls themselves. Why give them any respect or legitimacy in their claim over the entire region? Why not call them the name they detest, that gives them no legitimacy in their claims at all?
I personally have a different take on why he calls them ISIL. It's because to call them ISIS implies that the issue is about Syria, which was entirely during his time in office. ISIL does not include Syria in the name.
Since Daesh pisses the terrorists off, we wouldn't want to use that term, right? You'd rather just **** people off here in America. That makes sense from an Obama supporter.
You want to call them ISIS because it legitimizes their claim to Iraq and Syria?
At this point, their control in Iraq and Syria is a fait accompli... so rather than encourage them with ISIL, why doesn't Obama insult them with Daesh?

I always assumed Obama called them ISIL because that's they're official name. But I guess I was wrong. Turns out it was some crazy cryptic message about how Israel isn't valid, though how we got that out of the term 'the Levant' is also pretty cryptic and unclear.
