Was Chipotle too busy avoiding the fake dangers of GMOs to focus on actual food safety? - Vox

"Rather than pandering to groundless fears about GMO safety, Chipotle would have served its customers better by focusing on the very real dangers of food tainted with E. coli, norovirus, or salmonella. Theoretically, it should be able to do both, of course, but like any organization Chipotle has limited resources. A dollar it spends guarding against the overblown threat of GMOs is a dollar it can't devote to preventing actual health problems.

While I like the taste of the food honestly every time I eat there I get the Runs and have to take Pepto for a couple days. GMO seems unhealthy to me but I know the most educated people in the world believe it is totally safe. Diet pop seems unhealthy too but there's zero evidence it increases risk of cancer. We all die of something.

The free market will now decide the fate of chipotle. Inspectors are useless and people still get sick and die from their approved foods.

It's not the GMO food that gives one the runs. It's salmonella, and like all bacteria, we are surrounded all our lives with salmonella germs. Same with e coli.

Contaminated irrigation water can cause organic food and GMO food to be contaminated by the same bacteria. It's a matter of continual sanitary food preparation, not the food itself. These days, any restaurant should take it as a matter of course that some of the raw food it buys will be contaminated.

Salmonella can grow on cleanly prepared food that is improperly stored short-time too. It doesn't take long for it to grow.

I think all GMO foods should be labeled so consumers are aware and then the market (consumers) would decide if they want to eat them or not. Are they "safe"? I don't have a clue however I did just fine so far on regular food; I would probably avoid GMO stuff since I see no benefit to me as a consumer.

Most of the food you eat is is from gmo's. You do benefit. The benefit is the food is cheaper and more nutricious.

Need another option on the poll. "I believe GMO foods are perfectly safe, however I support labeling them so other people who do wish to know can."

That's one thing about Southern deep fried food. You never have to worry about ecoli.

And there we have it. The progressive left not only thinks GMOs are perfectly safe (greywar), but also thinks GMO concerns are about "fake dangers" (katzpaw).

If I'm not mistaken it's the progressive left pushing for exactly the opposite of what you are saying...

What do GMOs have to do with the E Coli problem?
