Anyone got a better idea? The problem we have here is that the middle class can not afford medical care. It is simply too expensive. Obamacare can't fix that. It only charges rates that make it profitable for insurers to participate. No private insurance model can. It's time for universal tax-funded care. That won't make it any cheaper probably, but the cost will be paid by the entire spectrum of the economy. We might have to give up some weapons systems and some war adventures to pay for it, too. We can argue the details but it is time to get in line with the rest of the world on this.
Things were better pre Obamacare, but far from perfect.
How about get rid of Obamacare and allow policies to be sold across state lines as a starter. Competition would drive down prices. Then you can start with price disclosures for standard procedures.
The monthly cost of my insurance has more than doubled. I'm fortunate, I can afford it but many others I know just can't. What a lot of people don't seem to comprehend is that these subsidies have to come from somewhere-there is no free lunch. It appears to me that the lower end of the middle class are the ones who are and will suffer the most. They make too much to get subsidies and the price of insurance is typically more. Great program!
I must admit, I was perfectly happy with my healthcare prior to the implementation of Obamacare. Infact, most people I knew were. Certainly there were some issues, however they could have been solved by the private sector. Fact is there was never any "real" competition among providers.

Right! If someone needs a subsidy to pay the monthly premium they sure as hell cant afford this. ObumblerCare is the largest hoax ever perpetuated on the American people. All it has done is take money out of the working middle class pocket and gave it to insurance companies on behalf of another economic class. That same economic class's that will not pay their co-pay and 80/20 because they can't afford it. All ObumblerCare did was rape the working middle class blue collar worker.
My comment was not a defense of the rates. Most are higher. I just don't know why one poster needed a zip code. He or she seemed to think the stat provided was false. In fact, it's low. The deductibles are just one more stab in the back.
It was a giant subsidy to business, as well. I wouldn't call it a hoax on the American people. It was a hoax on low-information voters. Millions of Americans knew exactly what it was and what it would do to the system. I made a prediction, along with many others, of exactly what would happen. My prediction was eerily accurate.

If Pelosi and Reid introduced a bill for UHC and told their voters to get prepared for regressive tax rates like those other countries I can assure you America would never elect another democrat.
Yup. My insurance went down the shi++er, numerous times over the last few years every time we had to renew, since the clusterbarf ACA thing took place. I don't want to talk about it here, but I am essentially now DISABLED because I can't afford certain things under my insurance that I used to be able to afford pre ACA... Lovely for slugs who don't work, not so much for those of us that do. :/ And no, i truly don't give a crap about spreading the wealth around. Spread someone ELSE's wealth around, I never had it to begin with and now i'm being penalized like I did. :/ ?

My insurance through my firm has gone through the roof. This year we received only a "moderate" 10% increase, plus a bump in out of pocket and deductible.
