I'm still trying to figure out how NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement between the USA, Canada and Mexico, and negotiated by George Bush the Elder (signed in 1992) had anything to do with Chinese peasants moving to the big city.
We all love poster boy Gore, don't we? He was a big part of pushing Nafta through, which opened up Mexico, and paved the way to so many of our goods being produced in China. Everyone will agree, pollution in China is rampant, and affecting other parts of the world.
Now, "free" trade as we know it was going to happen to some degree, no matter what. Whether it was Reagan's failed attempt, or Clinton/Gore, Bush Jr, Obama...Wall Street was going to make it happen one way or another. There was/is just too damn much money at hand.
But isn't it ironic that good 'ole farmboy Al really had a bigger hand in creating pollution than he will ever have in curbing it?
Only if you haven't been paying attention or haven't read Animal Farm. Otherwise, it seems to be exactly what was intended and exactly for the reasons intended.
You didn't even bring up the BILLIONS of dollars Gore has made off his "carbon trading" scheme and selling his TV channel to Al Jazeera.

It's more likely to gain traction stating Gore's 20,000 a month electric bill or more recent news about Gore's hypocrisy on saving the planet.
China is reckless with environmental controls so one politician isn't the crux of China's contribution to world pollution. China has 50x more coal mines, pollutes waterways with ease, and has more smog from pollution each day than even our worse city on a bad day.
