But just because they know you own a gun does not mean they are out to confiscate it. That is just gun-freak paranoia talking. If they search your home and find unregistered guns, now, that would be a reason to clear the weapons out.

Attacking people based on some imaginary classification of their political ideology is so much easier than having to actually... you know... think of an intelligent argument.

If there is no desire to ever confiscate then why would registration be necessary, given that a citizen is of legal age to own a firearm? Once again libs, prove your words are true. If Obama or Moonbeam truly believe guns are bad, then disarm the security personnel who surround them as an example of that belief.

None of my guns are registered. If my state suddenly mandated it, none would be. (All lost in a boating accident.) Registration is a silly notion when it comes to rights guaranteed (not granted) by the Constitution.

Read up about gun confiscations in New Orleans during Katrina, and the subsequent wave of gang violence on unprotected citizens (the police that was supposed to protect them after their guns were taken away was nowhere to be found once their lives were in danger... surprise).

After this incident there's simply no good excuse anyone can come up with to justify gun owners registration. It was so bad, the state of Louisiana amended their Constitution to specifically prohibit anything like that happening again. I agree with Working_Hard - what is the purpose of the registry if not for confiscating the guns as the government sees fit ?

What's the matter with you?

If a guy pulls a gun on his wife, he should thank his guardian angel if a gun confiscation is all that happens to him.

As evidenced by what ? His wife's words against his ?

Not to sound sexist but I've seen very few men to sink as low - and to be as inventive, as evil and as tenacious at this - as their wives would do during a bad divorce.

It also doesn't help that even an obvious lie by a vindictive woman usually goes unpunished. She can be calling the cops on her husband 5x a week and won't even get a slap on the wrist. At the absolutely worst, she may end up with less than ideal custody arrangements - I've seen this happen more than a couple of times, and every time it was a female judge who wouldn't let them get away with lies and manipulations. Never a male judge - I guess they're too cautious. Yet if a guy was caught tutoring his kids on how to land mommy in jail, he'd be in a world of hurt. The pendulum had swung too far.

BTW, registration of long guns is not required in California, and pistols is required but not really enforced...
