It's worth noting that the Occupy protestors welcomed the homeless into their encampments and fed them. Apparently one of them defecated on a police car and Faux News ran with this meme, and the wingnuts have used that one example as depicting the movement. Now they have moved on to other alleged crimes as being representative.

This entire little stunt is so obvious that it would be comical if they weren't so annoying.

They are obviously looking for attention; they are obviously hoping to start a dramatic fight with FBI so they can look like martyrs (one guy did a video saying good-bye to his wife in case he doesn't come back (tres jihadish); they obviously have nothing to say--when given time to speak, none of them know what to say because they don't seem to know why they are there.

For an entire day they never even said what it is they want or what there goal would be to leave; the FBI is just sitting around laid back saying "we want to take this slow." It is like a vacation for them--sit around and wait for these mockumentary-worthy patriots to get hungry and bored enough to go home.

Some of them plan to stay indefinitely. Huh? Don't they work? It's like a bunch of bored people with nothing to do and apparently no jobs who just plan to move into a building and live for free for a while? From the twiittersphere comments, it appears most people are really annoyed that the feds aren't doing anything and the rest are just making fun of them. It is a pathetic attention grab by martyr wannabes and worthy of an SNL skit.

But--they have to have the schools closed because these bozos have weapons and they don't want kids to be hurt, so they are costing money and time for residents who really needed this to start their year.

In this case the government is the manifestation of the will of the people, while the armed protesters are a bunch of thugs who want to dictate their will to the rest of us. They don't own that land, ranchers don't own that land, all Americans do, collectively through the government.

I have this thought of you and these other "patriots" back in the Whisky Rebellion. All riled up waving your musket around and plastering the countryside with anti-government leaflets, only to quickly sulking back to your cabin once the government takes you up on your threats of violence.

I'd love to know how many of these guys get government subsidies. Being as that many are ranchers and work when they want to, I'd be willing to bet most of them get some sort of government assistance. For those who do, just convict them of criminal trespassing and reckless endangerment and take away their subsidies. If they want to fight the charges, go after them for domestic terrorism.

I think most people would agree that this resentencing business sucks. Obama might have commuted their sentences to time served. But now that would be seen as caving to pressure from armed terrorists, so it is out of the question.

Oregon needs to build a wall. And make the Bundys pay for it.
