First sensible thing I've heard out of that state in some time:
Florida reinstating work requirements for food stamp recipients - Sun Sentinel

Why should they get a pass for being in a training program?

Sensible would be eliminating the scheme, not adding layers to it.

Agreed, but anything that gets such persons off their behinds at home and or standing around getting into trouble is a start.

Personally welcome the approach found in many European countries; forced community service for anyone receiving any sort of "welfare" or similar benefits. Let them pave roads, clean up streets, clean up parks, etc... Putting in a good eight hours of work not only would build ethics but would keep them so busy they won't have time to scheme and connive. For the females they would hopefully be so tired the idea of relations at the end of the day would be unthinkable thus keep breeding down.

end welfare and let them find productive jobs in the private sector where they will get paid by willing customers instead of tax victims

Because they are doing something and we all know that looking for work is seasonal. We all know not to apply to work in December because it stockpiles until January due to the holidays and in summer it is hard to get due to vacations.

Not really. The problem is cutting it entirely hurts those that do work but don't make enough to afford rent, transportation and food on income alone and we all know that there are not enough jobs for everyone who needs them to have one, let alone two.

I wish we would invest in the infrastructure the wave Europe is but we don't. We'd need to see WPA and TVA projects to see that happen and with many states going red to cut waste, I don't see that happening. The right-wing's way of doing thing isn't working and they aren't allowing the left to try to offer their solutions.
