I've been watching the Saudi - Iranian cold war heat up for over a year.

I'm kinda' expecting that in the next year or so, this cold war could go hot in a more direct fashion than proxy fights in Yemen and Syria. The US is no longer supporting the Saudis the way it used to and Iran feels emboldened by the current US administration. That leaves conflict resolution to the Saudis and the Iranians, who do not appear to be in the mood to resolve their conflict peacefully.

Hope I'm wrong. A war across the Persian Gulf could not be good for the world economy...

Link would only show the very first of the article, no pix. I can't help but wonder if "Iranian students" did this a la the takeover of the US Embassy. One of the jerk "students" in that fiasco is big in the current Iranian gov.

When Sunnis are fighting Shiites, step aside. We must resist jumping in every conflict that comes down the pike. I am sure you can concoct some scenario that involves our interest.

Wrong.

Again.

You were obviously taken in ten years ago by some claims that former Iranian President Ahmadinejad was one of those involved by in 1979 takeover. But he wasn't. Source? President Bush's CIA (on the other hand, given how wrong that administration was about pretty much everything, maybe he was... ). Anyway, he's been out of office, so he's not part of the current Iranian government.

Actually I believe that person was speaking of Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iran's Vice President and the head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization. She was the spokesperson for the Iranian hostage takers.
