There are people involved aside from the dedicated Malheur Malcontents, Law Enforcement Officers, and BLM:
* Children. Yesterday I posted a legitimate local reporter's account that various "patriots" were bringing children into the Wildlife Sanctuary. If/when the power is cut (as I agree it should be), those children will be exposed to extremely low temperatures, and perhaps lack of water and sanitation. Maybe some sympathiser will send them a package of beef jerky via US Postal Service to eat.

Just in case the Feds give him that National Forest, I would Like to officially go on record as getting first dibs on the San Juan National Forest in western Colorado. This is January 5, 2016, 6:48 MST. The Forest Service may DM me in order to finalize the transaction. And if you'll ask me really nicely and leave your toys at home I might - that's might - let you visit. Now lets see, so many trees so little time...

I'm not even that greedy so as to expect title to my own little federal enclave.
I'm just putting in for Monticello, mid March through early May. The local sheriff can give me a courtesy call to remind me when my stay is drawing to a close so I can tidy it up for the next guest.
And unlike some, I'll even bring my own snacks, toiletries, and linens.
I like this new tourism: Camping out wherever, whenever you like on federal property!
Hmmm... Perhaps, I should put in for a month in the White House during cherry blossom time. I'll take the Rose Room, please. Oh, and I'll be needing a few hundred books from the Library of Congress. Gotta have something to read when I'm sitting up in the San Juan Mountains guarding all my trees!
