Maybe.
I'm from Sweden and I used to say learn instead of teach. My husband corrected me until I knew the difference.

I understand now why you haven't heard the expression. I recall hearing it in the 1960's, and is meant to mock oneself by using the wrong word, while taking pleasure in someone else learning a lesson.

I've heard American's use learn instead of teach, and borrow instead of lend, among other mistakes, so I'm never surprised when someone who isn't born here has a better command of the English language than many of us do. Sad, but true.
