No, issues such as the preference to higher white men with criminal records rather than a "black" man with the same qualifications and no criminal record is why the unemployment rate is higher for "blacks" than whites. Whites have, as always, had there own affirmative action program. You have a anti-minority mindset, so you want to blame Latinos for the actions of whites that negatively affect "blacks."

I don't have the data to prove it, but I'd put money that the biggest factor in the employment rates is access to networking and referral opportunity.

I would also put money that if you polled the American workforce, the group with the highest number of people who have their jobs b/c of connections would be White Americans.

The majority of jobs in this country are filled through networking and referrals, not job boards, not iq tests, not gpa. It's always been who you know.

So no, I'm not surprised that the UE rates haven't changed much b/c we're still a highly segregated country, which means access to the most successful path to a job is also highly segregated.

Gosh, quit being so sensitive and playing your conservative card.
How is bringing slavery into this not the race card? Good way to shut down discussions. Know wonder this problem never gets solved. Keep laughing at the joke as the problem grows.

I disagree with your segregationist views and you bringing up the slavery card.

We are all in this together.

If you are arguing that the individual who has the most influence over the individual is the individual them self - I would agree.

However, Obama supposedly is one of you, and he has been worse for blacks than Bush.

Black students tend to have a lot of white teachers. I have seen white liberal caring teachers openly discuss setting lower standards for black students, with out even realizing how offensive and harmful it is. We are all in this together.

Agreeed, which is likely connected to the fact that white males with criminal records are more likely to be hired that black males with without a record, with the same credentials.

So how does he plan on fixing this? Let me guess, by giving us more free stuff As an educated black man, the notion that more social programs is the answer to inequality in regards to race is an absolute joke. I'm sorry, but being poor should suck. Many of my AA relatives have been working the system for years. They don't work because their quality of life is better by just sitting on their butts and milking the system.

When will the Black Community finally see through this nonsense that perpetually keeps the Black man down.?
Free stuff? I'm Black. Where is my free stuff? My Black friends and family want to know where the free stuff is as well.

Tell me how will my quality of life would be better if I sat on my behind every day? I work hard and I live well. What type of Black family do you have?

I don't understand how the black community doesn't get the connection with illegal immigration.
Most of the good starter jobs for young blacks without college have been taken by illegals. Only 5% of illegals work in agriculture now -- they are taking the jobs Americans will do in construction, landscaping, food service, etc. Even illegals are often getting $20 sometimes $25 an hour in these jobs.
Why doesn't the black community get this and start protesting?

... a perfect example of the mindset I was talking about. And no, I don't think Latinos are primarily to blame for the immigration policies that have led to higher black unemployment.

Asian-Americans, especially the first and second generations don't have much connection to corporate America, but because they work hard, and highly educated, they are doing just fine.
