I'm not a Christian. And this bothers me. You shouldn't have to be a Christian to care about this. It's was an ancient building, and it's destruction is lost history. Something also shouldn't have to be Christian in order for it's destruction to matter. Mosques have been blown up. Muslims, Jews, and Hindus have all be collateral in the actions of radical Muslims. But the "Christian Right" only seems to care when it's a Christian that has been wronged. Which is selfish and quite contradictory to how Jesus would want his followers to be.

But hey, being a hypocrite is your right.

I also find your assertion that the "left" would be at all happy about this. Their are Christians who are on the left. One of them is the ****ing pope. How dense can you be to assert something so hateful and frankly unchristian? I thought you guys weren't supposed to judge? Why are you?

And what is your solution? Do you think constant military intervention in the Middle East, which is realistically one of the main causes of radical Islam, will be helpful, as many of the Republican front runners for president have suggested? Do you think Ted Cruz's plan to make the "sand glow" is more Christian than the socialist, liberal-Jew, Bernie Sanders, who's plan is to stop using our troops as cannon fodder for a war that boosts the profits of the weapon industry?
Cannot rep you again, but I agree wholeheartedly.

I am not religious myself, but see this as nothing less than a tragedy, just as the destruction of Palmyra was a tragedy, the looting of museums in Iraq, the destruction of the Buddahs in Afghanistan... Unfortunately the list goes on.

Are traditional liberals happy? Probably not. Are progressives happy? Most certainly!
Awww, and you started out so well with that first sentence. Then your "reasoning" just fell off a cliff.

Liberal Progressive here. Am I happy that historical sites are being destroyed? Most certainly NOT! I also was not happy when the Taliban destroyed the Buddhas of Bamiyan in 2001. But I didn't blame Conservatives or Christians for that, or claim they were happy about it because the Buddhas were not Christian icons. Geesh, grow up.

As another poster in this thread commented, it's is liberals and progressives who support the arts. Try to see past your bias. Reality is a lot different than what you seem to believe.

Reid (D-NV) Current leader of the Senate
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Schumer (D-NY)
Torricelli (D-NJ)
You left out a few also, I wonder why.

Within the House of Representatives, 215 Republicans voted yes (6 voted no), while only 82 Democrats voted yes, leaving 126 saying no. One Democrat did not vote, and two Republicans did not vote. One independent voted, and they said no.

In the Senate, it was 48-1 voting yes for the GOP. As for the Democrats, 29 voted yes, 21 no. Again, one independent voted, and they said no.

Conclusion, while there was bipartisan support overall, Republicans were more in favor of the war than Democrats, though neither party is as rational or decent as the two independents who both voted no.

it is pretty sad that they are destroying some of the oldest pieces of history.

And, as usual, something that happens in another part of the world has somehow morphed into US politics of D vs R.

Truly. As to these "sacred" ,historical, destruction, it is t our history being destroyed. The .ME is nothing but a quagmire , , a d the historical vandalism is more of a ...local...problem.. A d, how this all boils down to L-R politics here in the US? Well we've seen lots of ...reasoning.... on that, but not much that holds water.

Ask the man who ousted Saddam and created ISIS by destabilizing the region.

HINT: He WAS NOT a Liberal or leftist.
I think Saddam created ISIS, these are his men he trained some top generals.......What Bush did do was open up mass immigration from the Middle East, I wonder if this was the plan in the first place.
