What about anglo white people with "known" Black ancestors? Would they qualify for reparations or not? Too; what about Black Americans who had NO slave ancestors here in the US.
That is just the tip of the iceberg.
1)Many whites have no ancestors who have a connection to slavery, so why should they pay.
2)Many whites died to end slavery, so why should their ancestors pay.
You could combine #1&2 and go as far as to say todays ancestors of those whites should be paid for their sacrifices.
3)Some blacks have no connection via ancestors who were slaves. Some are also partially white, so should they have to pay a portion of the reparations to themselves?
4)Other minorities, including whites (like the Irish) were either brought over as slaves/indentured servants. They were treated like animals as well. Are they entitled to be paid reparations?
In this day and age, it is absurd to consider such things, just as it would be absurd to say we should ship blacks back to Africa (assuming their ancestors even came from there).
In reality, (though not PC to say) even the ancestors of slaves should be thankful their ancestors were brought here as slaves. Otherwise they might not even be alive, as many tribes in Africa attempt genocide against each other. Additionally, they certainly wouldn't be living a better life if they were born in Africa.
As a black male, I don't believe it will cause a race war. I don't think blacks should get reparations. And the main reason is because the less you need government the better. Black America being predisposed to ask the government is down right disgusting in my opinion. Blacks don't need reparation. We just need ourselves and the power of the market.

Slavery would have been a money hole and unsustainable in America if it had continue. Slave plantations could not reasonable out produce companies with modern machinery.

There's multiple studies that suggest that most Black Americans are. I don't know how true it is, just throwing that out there. I would probably agree though. I get asked am I of Hispanic descent frequently.
Threads like these are pointless. It just fuels the flames and gets the extremists on both sides riled up.
The country would be so broke if it passed, there wouldn't be enough money for a race war (which blacks would lose).
The answer to that would be to impose reparations on the slave states and collect it or kick them out of the union.
