"Replica" or "toy" non firearms should have an orange muzzle color. Why? These guns are VERY REAL in appearance. We have MANY Ar-15s and AR-10s, and one really cannot tell the difference between a real weapon and an airsoft until you pick it up (or if there is an orange band on the muzzle). If a cop confronts someone who is "armed" with an airsoft, a response should be nothing at all, rather than lethal force.

My boys were always taught to NEVER point an airsoft or any gun at anyone, whether it was a toy, real gun, or whatever.

A cop reacting to an individual with "a gun" needs some help in determining whether the gun is real or not and whether there is a lethal threat, or not.
Exactly, I've been shooting since I was probably 5 years old and I really don't see how this type of law could possibly be harmful. I don't know why people want to make police officers lives more difficult just so that they can have a toy that LOOKS more real? How does that help society?

Anybody using a red strip on gun to determine if it's real or not is taking their life in their hands.

If you point a replica gun at me that has a red stripe you are going to get shot. If you point a replica gun at me that has been spray painted black to hide the stripe you are going to get shot.

As I stated previously the only meaningful legislation regarding these guns is treat them as real guns. That doesn't mean the same laws for purchasing them. Just for handling them. Matter of fact this would go a long way in educating kids and adults who may not be familiar with gun laws in how to properly handle a gun.

One of these replica guns would never enter my household but if I had kids and they had one they would treat it no different than a real weapon.

Just so we're clear, if a 7 year old boy points a cap gun at you with an orange stripe on it, you're going to shoot him?

I would. I don't know if gangstas are painting real guns with stripes.
