Here is something to get the alarmist all scared and worried

Quote:
Between 1896 and 2013 atmospheric CO2 increased 33% and global average temperature has increased 1 degree Celsius. That is an increase that tracks Svante Arrhenius’ prediction to 80% accuracy.

As of 2013, there are a number of confirmed international greenhouse gas reduction proposals. Anticipating that all of these proposals are honored, within 50 years:

Global annual CO2 emissions will reach 85.9 Gigatonnes (approximately 230% current levels)
Atmospheric CO2 concentrations will likely reach 613, and
Global temperatures can be expected to increase another 2 degrees Celsius.
130 Years of Global Warming

And of course, most of the socalled greenhouse gas reduction proposals aren't worth the paper that they are written on, and likely will not be follow, especially by developing nations.....

Taxing carbon is a bad idea. If we don't dam the glaciers then we are going to have global cooling. The prior peeks in interglacial warm periods were sharp. Up then down. And 20 plus feet higher sea level. The sea level kept going up after the temps started going down.

Taxing carbon will shut down our economy and it will not make any difference.
It does not matter if it makes a difference, because the purpose is for government to be in control of the energy industry, which means it controls production and the economy. Just like the ACA was not about providing increased health care, it's about the federal government gaining control over the people.

Yes, taxing carbon will harm our economy.

Energy is the life blood of our nation's economy. When we engage in taxing carbon, you tax and punish travel and commerce, production and manufacturing, which will suck the money out of the economy.

New paper not yet mainstream thinking Iceland's hot spot was under Greenland back in the day. Only problem is no island chain and Iceland is sitting on the mid Atlantic ridge. So maybe not a hot spot, also melting is slow, braking up and floating out to sea is fast.

Not necessarily true.... Actually the carbon tax my province of BC introduced in 2008 has boosted our economy while reducing emissions.... All You Need to Know About BC

It has been a natural occurrence when the earth heats and cools and weather patterns will continue to fluctuate. This is nothing new or man made. It has been recorded when drought and floods have occurred.

So if taxing Sunlight shuts down the PV industry then taxing carbon will shut down just about any other start up industry. It will erect a severe barrier to entry.
A carbon tax would be beneficial for PV.

It will protect the existing businesses from competition when they are to monopolistic already.

Carbon = low cost labor. Ford figured that an average worker could be counted on to do 1/10th hp of work for a ten hour day. But one worker can regulate 1,000's of hoarse power. Taxing carbon will not bother the big and existing companies. It will bother startups.

I've looked at starting up a business not fun.

And it wont work. We are to warm already. Sea level is going up and we can't stop it by pollution control.

Putting a dam in the way of the warm sea water will help. If we are talking about doing that then we can talk about other things. If we aren't then it isn't about fixing what is wrong it is about power and maintaining it.

Taxing carbon will not work.
Are you talking about electricity generation start ups?

Taxing carbon would work. We already limit the amount of emissions in cars and power plants which act to increase the cost and that hasn't slowed down the economy.

So carbon tax or just a mandate for emissions all increase the cost pollution which is passed on.
