I'm not really sure.... We have bombed the hell out of the middle east consistently for the past 13-14 years. Does that count?

Congress could raise the gas tax to at least keep up with inflation or could simply end the tax breaks for O&G companies? Congress could simply choose to fund mass transit out the general fund.

Let us make it 20.00 Half to fix the infrastructure and the other half to balance the budget. Our economy can stand $50 or $60 a barrel oil. And now the Repubs are happy as the budget is balanced and the dems can spend on infrastructure repair and expansion. Sounds like a winner.

Once again, the money won't go to where you think it will go. They fined tobacco companies tens of billions of dollars to pay for cancer treatment but the money found its way to unions and to fill potholes. Same with road tolls and even gas tax. Have you researched how the money is spent now?

We use all money spent for foreign aid and use it at home. We make the benefit packages for our elected reps reflect what the average US citizen gets. The money saved goes towards paying for infrastructure. We stop spending money on bridges to no where, studies on why lesbians are obese and other stupid topics. We don't by tanks that the army doesn't want, we hold defense contractors to their estimates ( like you do any other contractor). The waste that can be eliminated is nearly endless.
We should be billing countries for any services that we provide their citizens who come here illegally. Why should we foot that bill?

So you guys basically say the problem is simply not solvable.

So just stop worrying, lean back and enjoy?

All of foreign aid and the cost of the legislature would not equal a $1.00 in oil tax. And if you saved all of the waste in government without spending a dime to do it you might get the equivalent of another dollar.

$10/barrel = less than $.02 per gallon.

That's like proposals to fix roads to accommodate autonomous cars. No, make the autonomous cars accommodate the roads. I don't need to subsidize Googles "free enterprise"
The left runs around "hating" on corporate subsidies, while they run around demanding corporate subsidies..

I agree, you need to get a grasp of government.
