I don't care who you are, this story can make even the most rabid ideologue smile.

"The man who died after being sucked out of a Somali passenger jet in midair on Monday appears to have been the person who detonated the bomb, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Citing a diplomatic source, the Journal’s Heidi Vogt writes that the man was able to “bypass rigorous security screening in Mogadishu” by arriving to the airport in a wheelchair. The source said the man was loaded onto the plane in the wheelchair and then moved to a regular seat. Five minutes after takeoff he then would have detonated the bomb and been pulled through the resultant hole in the fuselage...."

If he was a suicide bomber, he got what he wanted, didn't he!
It sounds like a success story to me!

Too bad someone didn't get a video. Love to see the look on his face as he is ejected from the plane.

Man, who would take a plane out of Somalia anyway?

I'm repping for the thread title alone.

But the story is pretty great. It reminds me of all the live free or die and 'I'll burn this bi*** down' folks who then complain that they are facing arrest or living in a burned out community.

And to further Rakin's thought- who would go to Somalia to begin with... it has become the Middle East, Eithiopia, Nazi Germany and some bad pirate movie wrapped into one. And they don't even have enough oil or $ for anyone to care...

I said that as soon as it was reported, suicide bomber that underestimated the power of his bomb.

I studied this event.

The 55 year old male (old, by al-Shabaab standards) had a laptop computer loaded with TNT. He detonated it at 11,000 feet, which was too low to impact the right wing tank. Had he waited until they got to cruise altitude, he woud have taken out the whole plane. He moved to that seat after boarding specifically to take out the right wing tank or wing spar (not sure which).

His bombing is typical of the 4,500 I studied. The most frequent number of victims killed by a suicide bomber is...zero. (The average, including 9/11, is only six.)

So this bombing supports my study: The typical suicide bomber is a failure - in more ways than one.

It would have been better if he had lived and blown off both arms (or other body parts)

I can only hope he lived long enough to watch the plane fly safely away as the ground came up to give him what he deserved.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see the logic of this thread. If he was a suicide bomber, he intended to die. How does this relate to Karma?

You think he is upset that others did not die? He's dead--he doesn't know.
