It is being discussed by the Republicans. Kasich has a big debt counter on the stage at his rallies. Carson speaks extensively and eloquently about the debt at his rallies. I've heard Cruz and Trump talk about it.

Sure they talk about it. But if they want a war or Medicare Part D or tax cuts - and all at the same time - they have no problem with it whatsoever. Then they scream about it when a Democrat is in office.

No worries! We can always sell off our islands, one by one, if necessary: Oahu, Maui, Lanai, the Florida Keys, Catalina island, the Channel Islands, the Aleutian Islands, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Fire Island (NYC), Hilton Head (SC), and let's throw in Flint, MI for a bonus!

Well if we are honest, both parties helped get us into this mess.

The idea is to find common ground solutions that can pass and work. If we demonize one another that won't happen.

P.S. I know Kasich is talking about it.

no. and we've been over why that is.

'the national debt' is one piece of a bigger puzzle of global finance. if you're concerned about debt size, why not be concerned about the debt in the private-sector? You know, the kind that caused the housing bubble, for example? There's far more of it.

Just erase the debt and tack on reimbursement for past interest payments the Federal Reserve charged. Just take it from The Rothschild's and the Rockefellers. They won't miss it. Much.

Damm, and all this time I thought that the republican controlled House of Representatives had control of our spending and budget process. When did they give that up to Obama?

I also am not a Keynesian that argues there are positive ripple effects through the economy from this spending as it is offset by the negative impact.

Fact is, both parties are too blame for $19 Trillion and counting. Let's talk solutions.

Should the national debt be a bigger story in the 2016 campaigns?

It should be a bigger story, because the Congress needs to be held accountable. They just passed another massive spending bill, which will only increase the debt. I think the GOP candidates are being careful to talk about it because it's a GOP Congress and in case they win, they will want to be friends with the Congress,

Shouldn't those who've paid the least be the most willing to get less back in entitlements? That's not the boomers. It's the welfare-dependent class.
