After being arrested for doing more than 20 miles over the speed limit with a suspended license and outstanding warrant, a black Princeton "professor" of black history took to social media saying she was humiliated and mistreated because of her "blackness." After the video of the incident came out she shut down her social media accounts. The video is here:
Not only was she treated professionally and courteously, but the police even offered to drive her to work. People like her are the reason that the very small percentage of drivers who are actually mistreated by police will not be believed.
This is why I wish all cops in this country wore cameras. And ALL interactions, properly redacted to protect the identities of people, were put out there for people to see.
Catch a few bad apple cops, catch a lot of bad apple *******s too.
This is a perfect example as to why police should have cameras.
Keeps them honest. Keeps the public honest.
Exactly, it exonerated them here. All should be treated fairly. Sadly without the video these officers may have been condemned because of the poor actions on the part of other police officers.
There is no correct one position here. She was wrong in all aspects. I'll condemn the police all day when they do wrong, but it wasn't the case this time. I've even noted in the threads where I condemn the police that there are hundreds of stops like this a day where the officers do their jobs correctly to every one bad stop.
I don't know why people feel they either have to condemn or defend something no matter what the facts are.
As an aside, I do still have one problem here. When the cops do well they are quick to release the video. When they do wrong they have to be sued to release the video.
Maybe while she is busy renewing her "commitment to the struggle against racism & carcerality" she could also pay her parking tickets and make at least a token effort to obey speed limits.

Many "cop haters" and racists have been SCREAMING for dash cams and body cams for the police.
It has been pointed out, "be careful what you wish for", that they may not like some of the outcomes.
Just ask for her resignation and if she doesn't have the integrity to resign, then fire her. People sue the police and often with complete justification, here's an instance where the police should sue her.
I don't know what type of special privilege she thought she was entitled to. The poison she must infect students minds with will hinder them for their entire lives.

And there won't be any repercussions toward her.....
