I remember after 9/11 President Bush really united our country everyone kind of came together and it didn't feel divided. I also remember seeing AMERICAN FLAGS flying everywhere there was so much patriotism and love for this country, what happened?
For those that are older what was it like during the 1920's 30's 40's 50's etc? I really hope our next president has a positive affect on our people to unite us once again.

I too hope our next President has a positive effect on uniting us as a people.
The solutions, if they can be called that, may come in assorted attempts. With many hearts, minds, souls & hands 'giving it a go'.
Focusing on ideology rather than reality often seems to lead to inertia. Especially when the ideology seeks to preserve the 'status quo' & offers no reality based considerations, options or solutions. Accommodating improvisation is at odds with conservatism because it denies the necessity of adapting systems relative to changes in conditions.

My last rant is this:
I think there are a lot of American people who are tired of being divided. Suspicious of the labeling & bored to tears with the partisan rhetoric & sophistry. Many Americans have lost trust & sometimes respect for a government, that sometimes (no matter which 'team' is in office atm) acts irresponsibly & incompetently. Aware that neither capitalism nor socialism is inherently 'evil' however also aware there are problems with each system. Many are tired of being lined up like sheep on either side of an issue, where, in the end, nothing of benefit is accomplished. Some are ashamed of our actions in other countries which violate our beliefs as a people.
Some are more interested in solutions than idiotically monotonous arguments leading nowhere.
I could go on ad infinity, ad nauseum but I am tired! (& most likely you are tired of hearing)
