Here are a few articles about the battle going on now at the federal level to do away with any IDs for voting. As stated here for quite some time by many, the goal of the influx of illegal immigrants is to keep a low wage voter base for the Democrats. Many get upset at that suggestion, but it's true. If the government can get even 5 of the 11 million illegals to vote, they will stay in power.

The EAC is the US Election Assistance Commission. It is a non-partisan appointed group made up of Democrats and Republicans. The EAC decided recently to allow states, naming a few such as Kansas, Arizona and Georgia, to enforce their laws requiring only citizens vote. The NAACP and the League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit to reverse that decision, and surprisingly, the DOJ sided with these two organizations against its own government agency. The second article is the most surprising--gotta love the Judge's comments.

Why would the DOJ not defend its own agency and actually side with the NAACP and the LWV?

I agree with you. I do think that some things just should be free including identification and medical care especially. It would alleviate a lot of whining on both sides.

This is a completely bogus argument that both sides use to divide the people. You already have to show I.D. to register to vote.

To drink, one needs to show ID.

To buy cigarettes, one needs to show ID.

To go to a strip club, one needs to show ID.

To enter many work facilities, the employees need to show their ID.

The list goes on. So why do some people get upset when someone suggests requiring ID to DECIDE THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY?

I don't get it. And I don't get why some people claim it would suppress minority turnout. Just provide everyone an ID and then they can use it. We would need to provide it for free, but we waste money on much worse things. So seriously, why not provide and then require voter ID, when it is required for so many other minor things in life? What is the harm? Seriously.
Because it is not a constitutional right to drink alcohol or buy cigarettes. However, it is a constitutional right that everyone is allowed to vote.
