A crime against humanity has been committed against the people of Flint, making them refugees in their own homes. Tell me honestly: if you were living in Flint right now, and you learned that your children had been drinking lead-filled water for two years, and then you discovered that the Governor knew this and the state lied about it – tell me, just how fast would your head be spinning? With your children now poisoned, and with the poisoning continuing… is the word “nonviolence” dominating your thoughts right now? Are you absolutely, stunningly amazed how peaceful the people in Flint have remained? Are you curious how much longer that can last? I hope it does. If you want to help Flint, sign the petition, demand that the federal government take action, and then get involved yourself, wherever you live, so that this doesn’t happen to you – and so that the people we elect know they can no longer break the law as they rule by fiat or indifference. We deserve much better than this.

Most likely for the same reason he becomes aware of any other major crisis, he "saw it on the news."

It seems Bush was responsible for Katrina so why should Obama get a pass here?

My point isn't to defend either president but rather to point out the obvious hypocrisy on both sides by the partisans.

He doesnt get a pass, he has no blame in the situation at all seeing as this was a local issue, and Katrina effected the entire South East.

Any attack on President Obama would then become an argument about why the EPA isnt allowed to do more, of course, no one with any right leanings wants to touch that with a 10 foot poll. Just like everyone gets quiet when speaking about the Oil Spill and regulations(or rather lack there of when it comes to inspectors)

I am unable to put 2 and 2 together here.

Obama is no more responsible for this than Bush was for Katrina outside of zealots.

The regional EPA person RESIGNED. It wasn't a matter of "doing more". It was just a matter of doing your job and not turning a blind eye to the problem.

She knew in April 2015 what would happen.
Was she held responsible for her inaction ? NO.

Exactly. The switch to Flint River water was overseen by Flint Manager Darnell Earley.

Interesting, so Bush was blamed (by Democrats) for failures related to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, yet these same Democrats always fail to mention the failures in NOLA and the surrounding parishes, were almost all attributable to actions of Governor Blanco, and in the local NOLA area, Mayor Nagin. Blanco either refused, delayed or interfered with federal relief efforts. Nagin, well, we all know what happened with him. Found guilty of 20 of 21 counts of corruption, and currently serving a 10 year sentence in the Federal Correction Institution, Texarkana. Maybe if Nagin were less concerned with siphoning kickbacks off recovery efforts, things would've turned around more quickly in NOLA following the storm. While NOLA was the largest population center impacted by the storm, Mississippi bore significantly more damage, as is normal for areas on the eastern side of the eye wall. Funny how relief efforts in Mississippi were much more efficient. Bears mentioning Mississippi had a Republican governor that wasn't fighting with the Bush administration, but working with them.

Bottom line, playing politics with a disaster, be it natural, or man made, is ridiculous. Both parties are culpable in both situations. The Flint crisis was a product of decisions and actions made by local government, not the governor. If it does turn out the governor was aware of the issue and took no action, he should be held to account.

They regulations weren't enforced so you want more regulations and more government control?
