A man's choice in the matter ends when he chooses to have sex. If he doesn't want to have a child then the only 100% options he has is abstinence. He could have a vasectomy but even that isn't a 100% guarantee. Pregnancy is a possible outcome of having sex and if you don't want to deal with the consequences then don't have sex, this goes for both men and women.
Sounds like a double-standard. A woman can choose to have sex the day she got pregnant (except for rape) and every day thereafter until giving birth. The man only get's one day.

Sort of like how a man can have sex once and leave a woman with the physical reminder for the rest of her life if she gets pregnant. Not to mention that in the US alone, over 800 women die and 50,000 have serious, sometimes life altering complications due to pregnancy. No man has died as the result of pregnancy. Not now, not ever. Men also don't lose their jobs due to pregnancy, like my former boss who had to go on bedrest for the last trimester and experienced serious pregnancy complications that impact both her and her son's health. Her FMLA overran, as a result, she was let go. No man will ever need to face that as a result of pregnancy (though let's not forget that there are other issues that men and women face for having unprotected sex).
But that's all neither here nor there. Women have uteruses, men do not. There is no way to make that equitable, so the focus is on the child that otherwise society would have to support.
I'm sure I'm not alone in that view, no matter how you want to spin it. That may be the "intent", but the application, and reality of what that regressive concept does, is quite the opposite. One must look beyond the definition to the reality to make an assessment. But it sure sounds "awesome", cute and cuddly, 'cause it's for the chiiiiilllllddddrrrrreeeennnn!
How do you feel about increasing your taxes for welfare for noncustodial parents who refuse to take responsibility?

Pretty big can of worms. First you must assume that I support the concept of long term state-sponsored welfare. Since I do not, I think I have to simply answer your question in the negative, as that use would fall into that category.
Condoms and spermacide used together are very effective. So are vasectomies. If you don't want a kid or want to pay child support use condoms and spermacide or get a vas.
Biology gives women bigger consequences than men for having irresponsible casual sex and therefore women have a bigger responsibility to themselves, their potential children and their community to be more discerning about who they allow to have access to the source of their reproductive capabilities. Modern western society has largely chosen to ignore those added responsibilities on the part of the woman and focus completely on the consequences of failing to live up to them. This is the cause of many of the inequities you see today. The smart man will take the added responsibilities on himself because all of the legal protections as a result of the consequences go to the women in most cases. It is not a rational system we have here but it is there to see and people need to adjust to it if they want to avoid becoming a beneficiary of many of its most burdensome inequities.
Men should never have a say in abortion until they're able to give birth. Until then, there's nothing they need to say about it, really.
Viewing support as a 'punishment to men' is a real deadbeat way to look at things imo.
Unless a man is granted equal custody of the child it is indeed a punishment. He cannot decide if a woman chooses to keep or kill her progeny in the womb but he should be able to decide for himself if he is going to play an equal parental role to the life that was created.
