CSR Sifang America JV has won a 1.31 billion dollar contract to build transit cars for the Chicago Transit Authority. See link.

New CTA cars to be assembled in Pullman, bringing jobs | abc7chicago.com

There are no American companies that manufacture railroad passenger cars, transit and commuter cars, subway cars and integrated train sets. PA at one time had 5 such companies. Another example of the demise of American heavy industry in the globalist push to make the USA into "an advanced service economy."

Great. If there's one thing Chinese are known for, it's superior quality building materials.

Europe and China have been the leaders in rail cars for a long time now, the US basically abandoned that industry in the name of automobiles.

Capitalism. If you don't need it, you don't need to make it.

In liberal utopia, we would be subsidizing buggy whip manufacturers for the next century.

Nippon Sharyo is building Metra coaches in Rochelle IL. As long as they meet "Buy American" goals, foreign companies can bid on government contracts.

Bombardier is still in business and the Canadians are mighty upset that Chicago awarded the contract to a Chinese company. Incidentally, Bombardier got into the transit passenger car business by buying the plans, patents and tooling of 2 Pennsylvania companies; Pullman Standard (Butler, PA) and the Budd Company (Philadelphia).
