They were "so excited to vote", but waited to the last minute to register?
Maybe read the article first before posting. IL has same day registration. WI has same day registration, it's very popular. Course, the cons want to get rid of that. I've worked the polls on election day. There can be long lines but NEVER did I hear anyone complain about it, the only time we had to turn people away is if they were at the wrong polling place or if they didn't have the correct information they needed to register & that was rare too because there are many options to bring. We also would take electronic copies of things that people could show us from their phone too instead of insisting on just paper copies. People are excited to vote on election day, they really don't mind the lines.

Yes I read it and am in fact a former Illinois resident, so well aware of same day registration..changes nothing I said

And most of us are smart enough to know how government works.
If the DMV closes at 4pm you don't go there at 3:50 to get a new DL. The doors will be locked.
They lock the doors well before 4pm so that they can all go home at exactly 4pm

Sure it does. You asked why they waited until the last minute to register. The answer is simple: because you CAN when it's same day registration. Get it? The. End.
