How muchy do the Supreme Court appointments and future decisions may affect you personally?
(Notice that you may feel strongly about certain issues even though they don't affect you personally; the poll is about the latter)

Depends on what cases are brought to the court. Most SCOTUS decisions have at least a minor effect on our lives, even if we don't realize it because their decisions uphold the laws of the land. Or they can wipe out laws that we'd been led to believe were constitutional.

That much depends on how your state and local governments reacts. The imminent reversal of Heller will most likely have little effect for quite a long time in Texas, not so possibly in D.C., California or Massachusetts.

I am nearly 58, my life ain't gonna be changed much whatever government does.

Well, since Marbury V. Madison effectively ended the republic by replacing representative government with an unaccountable five-justice cabal, I would say we are effected in the most critical sort of way.

Maybe the states will grow some balls in the future and deal with what is essentially a centuries-old coupe, but until then passive America will simply hope openings on the Court occur when a president they like is in the White House.

It`s a really half-assed way to operate a Constitutional republic.

How could anyone possibly know this? It's all a guess.

I'm guessing the young, angry and paranoid will think "very much" and those over 70 probably "not at all."

The Citizens United Decision, Walmart vs Dukes blocking class actions, allowing businesses to require arbitration rather than class action in courts.

All important, also their decision on usury laws that caused an explosion in credit cards and fees.

If you are a gun owner, it effects you greatly. If Hillary is elected, she will pack the court full of anti-gun justices. Then the anti-gun extremists states will pass legislation that defies DC vs Heller, and the supreme court will allow it to stand.

Oh please, there are other amendments besides the second, your guns are safe been hearing this for 8 years. You aren't the least bit worried about the corrupting influence of money in politics but you're worried about losing your right to own a guns, need to get your priorities in order.

That would really depend on the rulings they make.

That's because the supreme court was balanced. It won't be if Hillary is elected, it will end up with an anti-gun bias.
