Given the complete clowns running for president from both the Republican and Democratic parties, and the fact that both parties are corrupting the process and distorting the results of the primary process, I have to wonder, is it possibly time for a viable third party? Someone not beholden to an establishment, to corrupt interests (either unions or big business). A party that respects individual's freedom to choose on a variety of areas (what guns to own and rather to have an abortion). One that respects freedom but also respects private property rights. Something needs to change. The 2 establishment parties have become a joke.

Depends, it requires people to actually vote for people in the Libertarian party.

Just what the country needs: another statist gang with growing power.

Is there a chance for the Libertarian party to grow? Sure. there's always a chance for that.

But they've been around now for about 40 years and have never grown past 5% of the vote. So, realistically, that chance is a very long one.

I think a better choice would be the creation of a new conservative party. The problem with the Libertarians is they are neither liberal nor conservative enough to ever get anywhere past where they are now.

They can be such fierce ideologues that it prevents much growth really. I don't see the need/future of political parties since most Americans are now Independents. Candidates should represent themselves and run on their own merit.

Yes, that would be terrific. Eliminates a lot of the interwoven corruption, and there'll be more nuanced and customized choices, rather than candidates trying to squeeze their entire platform into one of the two crowded parties.

Yeah, about as much chance for growth as the Nazi party.

What we need is NO parties. The Republican party is a joke, filled with religious extremists who preach hate. The Democrats is a disaster waiting to happen - and now they are turning socialist.

I don't know if direct voting is the answer either, because then the leftist urban areas would control the government more than they already do.

As long as you have false prophets like Rand Paul as the face of the libertarian movement, there will be no growth.

The libertarian party needs to detach itself from the GOP and act less like a Republican Trojan horse. Then only other Dems and independents can take it seriously.

Rand Paul was no libertarian.

A majority of Americans are too dependent on govt and too fearful to live without it. This is true of young people especially. An entitlement mentality is not compatible with libertarianism. We are going backwards as a society and I do not see growth in the libertarian movement.
Anyway, the political process itself is no answer for life's problems. Don't vote, don't give consent, don't play their game and live outside of govt as much as you can without openly defying it as you will lose and it will kill you if need be.
