I didn't realize Mr. Schilling was arrested and prosecuted for his Facebook post.

And this is why people with professional jobs, especially public figures, need to watch themselves on social media. Actions have consequences.

Some left wingers can be as intolerant as the right wingers.

Before you explode please note I am on the left in most issues. I believe folks like Schilling are simply misinformed.

He was deprived of his livelihood for exercising his First Amendment right.

So you're saying a private employer should not be able to fire someone for saying offensive things, or anything for that matter, that is counter to that employer's policies?

The first amendment protects citizens from government curtailing of speech. It does not pertain to private parties. Your boss can fire you for just about any reason, including making stupid facebook posts.

Or for proving he is simply too stupid to hold such a high profile job. Schilling was warned by ESPN many times over the last few years but he was not smart enough to tone it down in order to keep his cushy job.

ESPN would have been within their rights to terminate him long ago, but to their credit, they gave him many additional chances. And now he's used them all up. And he's probably too toxic for any other high profile job now. He should start practicing the phrase, "Do you want fries with that?" for his next job.

In today's envious society, breeds in the collectivist public universities, no one can be rationally moral. It hurts too many feelings, when the truth hurts. Welcome the snowflake PC crowd.

Your mind is your virtue. Those that wish to have power over you, do not want you to think for yourself. The public education has been programed to produce weak minds. One's mind, is one's basic means of survival. Take that away and there is no self esteem to think for yourself and you beg others to think for you.

If they had self esteem, there would not be a problem.

How "private" are they? Do they not piggyback on government-subsidized cable access?

....According to who? Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences from said speech.

Yes, the snowflakes cannot handle anyone being rationally moral. They will use force instead of the reason of one's own mind. The truth hurt to bad to counter with reason, so force was the only option in the arsenal of free will and free thinking.
