This subject does remind me, strongly, of the wonderful Meredith Wilson musical, The Music Man.
For those whom haven't seen it, a flim-flam man calling himself Professor Harold Hill arrives in a small Iowan community (River City). He has to think up a scheme to make the people part with their money. He notices people peering into a new pool hall. Told that the people had never seen a pool table before, only billiards, he then informs the townspeople of the terrible danger facing them, due to the presence of a pool table (singing about how gentlemen play billiards, but 'any fool can shove a ball into a pocket').
In short, he manufactured a problem, and then offered a solution (a boys band!).
The parallel here is obvious. The gullible have been told by some politicians that there is a horrible problem that can only be fixed by new laws. Never mind that the various states have never had 'gender specific' laws concerning public restrooms. Now, some people are screaming "You are right, politician! We are in danger from the hordes of transgenders!".
I do give credit to Donald Trump for shrugging his shoulders and saying it is not a problem. Since he has been in the hotel and golf course business for a pretty long time, I assume that he has never had such problems.
Think of it: Rafael Edward Cruz, born in Canada, has jumped on this bandwagon. That alone should make thoughtful people think about their position.
Cruz has chosen to make this toilet issue political.
Proximity between Indiana and Illinois means there is carryover in terms of TV and radio ads.
The ( anti- Trump) Cruz ads about this issue make me want to vomit in my mouth. They seek to instill fear and promise that only Cruz will keep public toilets safe.
Who would have thunk a presidential candidate would campaign on the basis of toilets?
Transgender people have been using the gender facilities they identify with, since there have been public toilets.
Bruce/ Caitlen Jenner is substantially more feminine than I am in terms of attire, hairdo and cosmetics.
I do not understand transgenderism beyond that is has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Having said this I don't care who is peeing in the stall next to mine. Can't imagine I would even notice.
The OP's post is an example of the high level political discourse the radical right will be butt pumping out all through the election, nonstop on Fox News and talk radio. I can't wait.
Seems to me signaling sex is much different than stalking someone for it and certainly not little children. As far as I know Craig was not stalking young little boys, seems to me this tells us many other men like Craig do the same thing. Are the bathrooms safe at all?
I guess this is another reason for women to have a concealed weapon, until she has to prove she was the one attacked.
Seems to me that I wouldn't want my young son going into a public restroom where two men are having sex!
i'm conflicted with the whole issue of transgender and bathrooms. part of me thinks transgendered male to females have been going into the women's restrooms for years probably without incident so who cares and why now is it such a big deal. and vice versa. part of me is a little uncomfortable with the whole thing but i can't really explain why. because mostly i feel like i just don't really care if a transgendered woman is in the restroom when i am in there. (it's the creeps that might try to fool their way in and try something to a woman or a child that worry me. but really, how many will really do that? pretend they are trans? pretend they are a woman? i don't know!!! will they???)
but things just seem to be getting so weird in the past few years. everything is getting weird. and i am not just talking about all the talk lately about transgendered people in bathrooms which is such a hot topic right now. i'm talking so many things. it's hard to keep up with all of the changes and weird things happening in the world today and all of the politically correct and incorrect and on and on and oy vey!!! so many people getting offended at everything. social media and just so many things. the world has changed so much in recent years and i'm not sure how much of it is for the better. it seems like it is a hard time to be a young person right now. or maybe not. i don't know, i'm not expressing myself well. please excuse my ramble. sometimes i wish i was an old lady who just doesn't give a rats azz about any of it and all i need to care about it playing bingo with the girls. but i'm not that old and i have a teenager and i'm a little worried about his future.
We do have a group of people deliberately sending men into women's restrooms to make them uncomfortable!
Quote:
American Family Association, whose director of governmental affairs, Sandy Rios, just admitted that her organization has been sending men into women’s bathrooms at Target in the hopes of eliciting a reaction.
Why are you letting your young son go into questionable public bathrooms on his own?
Who said I did? Also, what difference would that make with the men having sex there? Would they not be having sex otherwise?
Having sex in a public restroom is where I draw the line!
