As late as 1848 all the West to 37 N Lat. Wes of the Continental divide was part of Mexico. and before 1835 all of Texas was also a Mexican province. I find it rich and amusing that Americans simply crossed the US Mexican border without Mexican approval or papers, and simply took up residence often ignoring land claims of Hispanic residents some of which were centuries old. Then when they outnumbered them simply stole the land and proclaimed it American. At least Hispanics haven't tried to use armed force to take back places like Alto California, Arizona and New Mexico not to mention Tejas. American hypocracy is clear when we back with billions of dollars and weapons the right of Jews to their historic homeland and one they were kicked out of by Rome 2000 odd years ago but have this special blind spot for Hispanics wanting to live in the lands they once did and only through the accident of history had the misfortune of living next to the United States of America.
You forgot one important fact; The Tejas Indians were here before the Spaniards. So, they stole the land from the Indians.

And one other thing; Spaniards are not Mexicans.

And one more thing while we are correcting your errors. Moses Austin DID get land grants from the Mexican government and permission to settle in Texas.

In January 1821 Austin's father, Moses Austin, had received a permit from the Spanish to settle 300 families in Texas, but he died in Missouri a short time later before he could realize his plans. Stephen F. Austin took his father's place and traveled to San Antonio, where he met with the Spanish governor Antonio María Martínez, who acknowledged him as his father's successor. Austin quickly found willing colonists, and by the end of the summer of 1824 most of the Old Three Hundred were in Texas.

The true natives weren't speaking spanish, practicing catholicism, etc. What gave the pope any more right to dictate how the natives' lands would be divided than a british ruler? Especially considering how brutal the spanish were towards anyone who resisted converting to catholicism. In my opinion, that hypocrisy is a major flaw in the reasoning of any pro-illegal immigration, pro-reconquista de aztlan people. Mexico was just as much a colony as the USA. I find it funny how most former English colonies turned out better than most former Spanish colonies.

There were no natives here when this continent was discovered. All of our ancestors migrated here from somewhere else. Otherwise I agree with all your other comments.

WOW...thanks for the history lesson...flashback to third grade. This is what we like to call "REACHING".
This argument is always so ridiculous...no one but you, a few other 'reachers' and people 600 years old really care about what happened centuries ago. We all evolved from apes...right? So technically neither your people nor mine ever owned this land...right? (Another stupid point)
The British were the first to conquer here on a grand scale paving the way for it to become 'America'. Imagine if the British didn't conquer this land...it would all be disgusting and poverty stricken just like Tijuana and the other 99% of Mexico. I'm guessing your people only wanted to come to this land because of what Americans built it in to...right? If Mexicans would have built this land it would just be an extension of Tijuana...you probably wouldn't want to settle in a place just like Tijuana...with no public assistance system? I'll bet there are a lot of Mexicans here thanking God the British won this land for obvious reasons.
Lets stop with all the senseless semantics and talk about what's happening here now...that's all anyone really cares about.

You CAN have a country with no borders of immigration policy in place. It's a pure form of Libertarian-ism. Or you can have a country with social safety nets. You can't have both.

Millions? I hardly think so-- DO they want reform of the stupid laws they have now? YES_ Many of the NAT. citizens still have family not able to join them - so unless they are 7th generation Latin descendants--- NO

Aside from the white supremacist group and tribal cult support he is receiving, it may have something to with his opening lines to announce he was running. "Mexico is sending their murderers and rapists..." Duh.

First impressions are everything.

Nice try but what he really said was:

"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

And unless you are reaching and trying to get caught in wordplay or semantics he is spot on. Was it said direct without any massaging....absolutely. But us realist are sick and tired of all the methodically scripted, political rhetoric and plain mumbo-jumbo. For us who aren't wearing our blinders we like it straight forward, clear and to the point.

The Democrats want to promote racial politics, where legal Hispanics support illegal immigration for purely racial reasons (like blacks voting for Obama for purely racial reasons) , and are more loyal to their race and their native countries than they are to the United States. Not all Hispanics fall for this though. There are many who are loyal to America and consider themselves Americans first.
