First let me say I am not s huge political junkie (I only was old enough to Vote in 2009 missing the 2008 Election by almost a year) but I follow Politics to some extent but I am not expert. I followed the 2012 Election and I have been following the current Election Cycle since last Summer. My State has not yet voted in the Primaries and I have no idea who I am going to vote for. As I am still new to Voting and stuff I haunt really assigned myself to one party fully. There candidates on both side of the isles I am not a fan of.

I know the country has many problems and there lot of Political Turmoil and major Gridlock in Washington but after last night I got to wondering how did we get to this point in our Country in our current state and political atmosphere? What went wrong? what led us down this path?

Basically, what it comes down to is the political class in DC, they are all greesy pigs, who are always looking for new ways to increase thier personal bank accounts by ripping off the hardworking taxpayer. Doesnt matter whether is Democrat or Republican. Nearly every single one of them goes in promising the world, and then retires 30 years later a multi-millionare with ZERO accomplishments. We are sick of it!

Career politicians who serve only themselves. A shakeup is needed. Reinstate term limits. The term career politicians needs to go the way of the dinosaur.

Pretty straightforward, the problem is government and the fact that we have way too much of it. Stop asking/expecting it to do everything.

Greed. Something to do with paid lobbyists for special interest groups who influence the powers that be. Lobbyists for big oil, for farmers, for just about anything. They get paid to interfere with the decisions the politicians make. Too much wheeling and dealing and it all leads to even more greed.

Not government per se. Government officials who are corrupt and greedy.

Lobbyists would be out of work if there were no big govt to lobby. In other words, lobbyists are a symptom, not the cause.

yes govt per se.
Politician aren't magically endowed with attributes such as honesty and benevolence once elected. They are just like everyone else tempted by power, influence and money.
