What will be the future of political parties? It seems to me, people fall into these four groups.

Economic conservative, Socially liberal... the 'do your own thing' materialists.
These people are usually millionaires, or near one million liquid; they care about their investments and dislike taxes, especially capital gains taxes; which make up most of their money. This group also includes those who earn above $200,000 a year incomes. They are liberal on issues of sex and race and care most about rights to privacy. They do, however, tend to favour ‘middle-class values’ although most are not truly Middle-Class. My guess is they represent between five and ten percent of the whole population?

Economically liberal and Socially conservative.... the religious pious 'making ends meet'
These persons have traditionally been Republican voters, but really, they are being taken for a ride by the first group. Those more aware of real concerns are usually conservative Democrats, or Independents. Many of this group used to be the ‘religious right’, the moral majority, God’s party. They are not hipsters and most work hard; they value family life and fear liberal ideas, such as homosexuality. Some of them are overly zealous about rights to have guns. They are sometimes seen as the ‘redneck’ group and more often, hold rural values. Those who do not fit the stereotype are more likely to be minorities, and more likely to be Democrats. My guess is, as a whole, they represent about thirty-five percent of the population, and that percentage is shrinking. This group seems to hold similar values; but tends to divide along ethnic lines, with the later group being Democrats.

Economically Conservative and Socially conservative.... moral uptight old value authoritarian
This is the group which most people think of as conservative. They like dictating their cultural values. They value a strong military and believe the USA should intervene on behalf of our cultural enemies. They see themselves as social leaders. More of them are Republicans yet some are Democrats. This group is shrinking, now maybe twenty-five percent of the population, usually older people.

Economically liberal and Socially liberal ... decedents of hippies
This is definitely the youngest group and many find their values beginning in the 1960s. They value race relations and support women’s rights, as well today, most gay rights issues. Many of them had parents or grandparents in the first group. Liberal on social issues, yet they are more liberal on economic policy, favouring financial aid to the disadvantaged, or disenfranchised. They are the least likely to favour a strong military, and prefer government spending on domestic issues. They also value rights to privacy. This group make up near thirty percent of the population and is the Democratic stronghold.

What is in store for our political future? I believe more socially liberal, with some difference in fiscal concerns. Some division between young and older, yet I think the difference is shrinking in regards to cultural differences. There may be some who are more nationalistic and some who hold global points of view. It seems the next wealthy class will think more in global terms, yet this is merely speculation on my part.

I have no more than my opinion on this and you may find me in error, so let’s hear what you think shall be our political future?

There will be a day, that people will bear arms against other people, for forcing them to comply without their consent to things they do do wish to do..... The Police State ramping up, knows it is on the horizon. Closer than anyone thinks it will be.

The progressives will use force and violence to make people in bondage comply and the crap will hit the fan for freedom & liberty once again. The powder keg has been lit, with the race to disarm the people in motion.

People believe whatever serves their interests.

All the politics of all nations are controlled by "fear and greed". Scare the people, and then promise them something, and they will give you the power.

The future of the world, is a quasi-socialist, semi-aristocratic one-world government.

Somewhere between Brave New World and 1984.

I spent years arguing about ideology and the Constitution on this forum. The first thing you need to learn is that it is pointless to argue facts and logic to people on the internet. People believe what they want to believe. Your facts won't change anything, unless they find them personally useful in furthering their own interests.

The world isn't run on ideology, or freedom, or democracy, it is run on power. And America by no means is a Democracy. For that matter, the entire concept of Democracy is based on a complete fiction.

"The people flatter themselves that they have the sovereign power. These are, in fact, words without meaning. It is true they elected governors; but how are these elections brought about? In every instance of election by the mass of a people—through the influence of those governors themselves, and by means the most opposite to a free and disinterested choice, by the basest corruption and bribery. But those governors once selected, where is the boasted freedom of the people? They must submit to their rule and control, with the same abandonment of their natural liberty, the freedom of their will, and the command of their actions, as if they were under the rule of a monarch." - Alexander Fraser Tytler

Haaar! What a bunch of hooey. Fear being the predominant motivational force programmed into the American psyche of today says otherwise.

You might indeed go to war with each other but it damn sure won't be to throw off the yoke of any perceived oppression; it'll simply be because you're all bat-chit afraid of each other.

Get it on, the sooner the better, I ain't getting any younger and would dearly love to enjoy the show while I've still got a hankering for beer and popcorn.

I know that is true; however, I am not arguing my theory, rather I am asking others their own opinions.

Yet it's the right wing which seems to be stocking up an weapons like third world warlords. I am a progressive liberal for the most part and I own no guns. In your world view that makes you superior to me so what are you worrying about?

You have hired the Police State to do your dirty work for you. That is my point!

I think you got the first one way wrong. That category is what most people actually are. Only hardcore party faithfuls fall into the other categories. Everyone that I know that says they lean conservative fall into the first category and are not rich. They are middle, middle class.
