Also, like the other poster told you, retirement accounts are also exempt in many areas. States set their own rules for the dishing out of SNAP benefits. What state are you in?
Okay .. I am going to Really upset folks here!

My 'roommate' has been collecting snap benefits for over 5 years!

She is older than me but owns .. a whole lot more in assets than I do!

Autos?
Three.
The most expensive: a 1963 gullwing mercedes.

Least expensive?
Lexus RX 350 SUV.

She receives $1,900 a month in SS before medicare and around $1,500 after.

Owns a $350,000 home.

Go figure!

Ohhh, because you're a criminal. Yes, criminals upset me.

So I doubt you were honest. If so your $45,000 vehicle would have disqualified you.
What is your problem?

I was NEVER asked about my vehicle!

I was NEVER asked for verification on ANY of my claims!

I can only report on the steps and process.

The process is broken .. That is NOT my problem!
It is ALL of our problem!

Wow.

I couldn't even get $1 of financial aid for college even though I moved out at 17 with only the clothes on my back and deposit on an room rental off of Craigslist, and zero support or even contact with my parents. In the SF Bay Area, too.

Interesting experiment you did, and not at all surprising.

That's why I really don't have patience for politicians that talk about raising taxes. There's so much fat to trim already, that even addressing half the waste, abuse of the system, and inefficiency in the budget would be more than enough.
