Off topic in a way, but I couldn't resist. So, if one is arguing about the afterlife there's two beliefs (there is, there isn't) and two realities (there is, there isn't). Let's intersect them and see where it goes...
1) Believe in afterlife, die, then there is no afterlife. Well, you won't know that you were wrong.
2) Don't believe in afterlife, die, then there is no afterlife. Well, you won't know that you were right.
3) Believe in afterlife, die, then there is an afterlife. Great, you were right all along.
4) Don't believe in afterlife, die, then there is an afterlife. Kind of embarrassing isn't it?
Obviously then it makes sense to believe in (and prepare for) an afterlife.
But, back on subject, there is no personality that is "God" but I'm sure if there was, s/he'd be really upset at America for having morals that it always fails to adhere to.

I think bush is a douchebag and a horrible president, but that has nothing to do with morality. I'd say he's following the FSM.

It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”

A variant on Pascal's Wager. Of course, it leaves out the possibility that if God does exist, He quite purposely gave us a brain and then made very sure to conceal every trace of His ever having been here, fully hoping and expecting that we would use our brains to figure out how to live on our own. In that case, the people who are really ticking Him off are all those who disrespect this great brain gift of His and believe in Him anyway. Straight to Hell with the lot of those folks. God Himself is an atheist, after all...isn't it rather likely that He would want to surround Himself with more of the same???

Ironically I think it's religion WHY Bush got into office for the second time in a row.. The Bible Belt are strong for the Republican conservative and is where Bush won over a lot of votes.
I don't feel religion has any place in government.. I"m not "religious" but I am spiritual.. for the record.

I disagree with your first, second, and third claims. I also think that your question is irrelevant to reality.

Not all of them and when they founded this country they made is very clear that no one religion is to dominate in this country's legal matters.

God absolutely shouldn't be part of decisions that affect this country per the US Constitution.

No. Appeals to emotion are unnecessary.

It's a very nice bridge. Would you like it? Nothing down and easy monthly payments!

There is no purpose to human existence.
