Israel replacing a former chief of staff and leader of a commando unit with a corporal. I guess extreme right trumps everything, this should go a long way towards a peaceful solution in Palestine.

JERUSALEM — Israel’s defense minister abruptly announced his resignation on Friday, saying he had lost faith in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and was “fearful for Israel’s future” after his job had apparently been offered to a rival in a far-right party

The contrast in military credentials between Mr. Yaalon and Mr. Lieberman could hardly be more pronounced. Mr. Yaalon, a former chief of staff and career general, led commando units and took part in daring operations. Mr. Lieberman left the military at the rank of corporal. He is known for hard-right positions like demanding the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of terrorism and the toppling of Hamas, the militant group that rules Gaza.
You think the Palestinian leadership (Fatah or Hamas) want a peaceful solution? Then they should sit down and negotiate instead of setting preconditions and going to any country that will listen to them in an attempt to force Israel to do what they won't directly negotiate themselves. At least Arafat sat down and started the process. They got Gaza and Israel got rockets fired at them. Great trade-off. Israel will not make that same mistake with the West Bank. If it takes a different Defense Minister to be inline with the current gov't then so be it.
No the Palestinians have some issues but they are not a civilized nation like Israel, using them as an example to excuse Israel's behavior is not a healthy standard.
The story line is the right wing hijacking common sense in Israel, any comments on the resignation.

I can see why he is getting the boot, for new blood.
Hamas..... The remaining Nazi stronghold in the world.
Palestinians have lived through generations of knowing nothing but violence. And we are surprised they act violently? What is needed is compassion. Not more bombing.

That will not bring about peace, Israel has swung way right. Just killing Palestinians is not an answer if that was a solution they would have already established peace
That will not bring about peace, Israel has swung way right. Just killing Palestinians is not an answer plus this replacement is a politician, not a soldier.
Slaughtering the Nazi's in the 1940's was not the answer either....
Trumps not a politician either, and seems to have a grasp on things, right?
Every Israeli has to go through military training. It is the law. This guy once trained, decided the private sector, was better suited for him, to get things done...
People just like that here in the USA, are getting elected to office and PO'ing the establishment.
