Do that and many entrepunurs or existing manufacturers, will make it here.

The USA is the biggest consumption market in the world. The greedy are not going to kick that money to the curb.

Jobs will be plenty and the economy will be so strong, the cost of the military to keep us "safe" will be nothing and the welfare state will be kicking into high gear without complaint of not enough funds.

It's a very interesting idea. Obviously it would create a trade war and many countries would ban our products, but would that actually do that much harm?

Our country is lucky enough to have the majority of natural resources we require.

The only way to know for sure if it would be good for us would be implementation; however, if it doesn't work, it's tough to put that genie back in the bottle.

Instead of a minimum wage of $15 we should have a maximum wage of $5. That will do it. Problem solved, oh wait....

It is going to be much worse.

Shipping from China to the U.S. dirt cheap, otherwise, how can so many sellers in China can sell their junk directly to Americans at 1.99 shipping included?

I tried to ship my own painting to a relative in New York, cost me $23 something priority mail.

Many jobs will go to other countries.

Shipping should be the hidden cost of import, but it is not so.

How about no minimum wage and they work for what they will accept. and no welfare to bailout those that cannot fine a job, that pays them what they want. They get paid what the market bears. What someone thinks they are worth and what value they have to me, may not be the same. On those instances we agree, someone has a job to do and will eat that night.

It sounds good but there are two big problems with this. First but not least is that both Democrats and Republicans like the cheap labor over seas. Neither side wants to stop that money maker for business, they both get paid off for it. Second is that although on the surface that sounds great if it now costs 5 dollars to make a pencil the cost gets pushed on to the consumer. If you have to pay 40 to 60 percent more for most every thing you buy many people will be hurt and quit buying.

case in point, mazda made the mazda 6 here in michigan, up until the last generation of the car, when due to union rules and state and federal regulations it was found that it was cheaper to build the car in japan and ship it here instead of building it here.

if we stop with the regulations, and take power away from the unions, and make the business environment more friendly here, then companies will build their products here.

We need to ensure that wages are adequate but not ridicules which too often the unions involvement causes. How many industries are gone because union demands drove them out along with corporate greed. But enough laying the blame, how about if a company produces more than 5% of their product overseas we treat it as an import and tax it appropriately.
That will help level the costs when comparing manufacturing locations and then lets get rid of NAFTA, who ever thought this would be a benefit was not thinking with his head.....
