This man has made a bungle out of the health insurance industry and he seems to think throwing more money at it will fix the issue ? This man cannot leave office fast enough for me I just pray to God that some don't elect that hitlary witch into office . I mean how much more must we pay for this bungled up mess and cluster f*ck called Obama care ? pretty soon I wont be able to keep my house much less my dr . I know some of you all are in the same boat as I am .
The primary issue was that the administration underestimated 2 things- the first is just how many people wanted to get it, then have tens of thousands of procedures done, and get back off it (my friend did that). The second was just how many younger people would not purchase it. The health insurance company I work for lost well over $100 million last year off AHA. We went into receivership. United health lost over $500 million.
What puzzles me is that there were so many other and better ways to provide and extend healthcare. This was the worst possible idea and yet it was the one the dems wanted most.

Uh, well the real issue is that insurers went in with low premiums to build up marketshare. They thought that they'd be able to rely on risk sharing to cover or at least lessen their losses and then they could hike rates once they got their marketshare. With Congress not approving funds for risk sharing now the plans are hiking rates even more to make up for the past losses. This is the marketplace that Conservatives/Republicans pine for but it's not very much fun is it? You can blame Obama all you want but health insurers are inefficient middlemen and this is just hastening their demise (or their transformation into supplemental benefit providers since they don't really want to provide true insurance anyway).
I think the whole shebang is designed to fail so that universal, government run healthcare will be easier to usher in.
And this is what President Obama has stated- that the AHA was to bridge the gap between traditional employer based healthcare and government run universal healthcare.

Not really. They wanted single payer, this bungled mess was the result of a compromise with the Republicans.
I hope to never lose my ACA coverage! Much cheaper than the plan I had been on, I just had to pay out of pocket for tests and biopsies but now that I've met my deductible ($1,575) - I pay NOTHING for the rest of the year! (getting a med. shipped from the mail order pharmacy, $0 cost to me, just saw a specialist - $0 cost to me).

I think you mean single payer and not universal healthcare. We could relatively easily switch to Medicare for everyone and then people could by supplemental products on top of that to cover some of what Medicare doesn't cover. Then you can get rid of Medicaid (give them a subsidy or something to buy a supplemental product), Tricare, and the various other governmental programs. It would allow hospitals/providers to get rid of their specialized billing staffs for each insurer and cut back on other admin to chase denials and whatnot.
What you don't want is the government running hospitals (see the VA). As long as they don't try to do that I'd be much more comfortable. I'd also prefer that they only contracted with non-profit hospitals but that might be a bridge too far... not that non-profit hospitals are truly all that non-profit anyway.
