well consider the difference of what the class of 1976(me) and the class of 2016(todays high school grads) have had to learn. there is a 40 yer difference in levels of technology, understanding of history, an increased level of mathematics, astronomy, and other sciences, etc. not to mention the usual amount of social pressure not to get ahead, and far more varieties of illicit drugs to choose from.

Humans are computer software with animal instincts. We have a limbic system that learns through repetition and remembers most things through images and emotion and less so through our cortex which is why visualization can work so well. Basically unless critical thinking skills are taught they are not inherit to us as a species, since we are more animal and our ability to think is relatively recent.

People can't help but believe what their culture tells them to believe. Millennials were taught by their media, school system, and parents to act the way they do. I find it silly after learning more about human psychology that people blame whole generations for being what they were programmed to be... as though people are somehow supposed to think outside of the cultural norms of their time when they know no other way of life. Why are arabs, christians, etc. programmed the way they are? Why do people look down upon others as stupid and think their programming is superior? It's all about personal development.. as you get up into "yellow" territory you begin to see that there can be many different "truths" and that truth is relative.

They don't teach people how to reprogram their subconscious minds in school. The media, popular culture, etc. are all about embracing how you "feel" and making that a paramount part of life. There are some positives to what they teach but where they go wrong is thinking that life is somehow supposed to be all about being cushy and coddled with no discipline or hardship of any sort. That's not how animals are trained to be their best... to be your best it takes self development work which takes discipline... emotional and mental.. hardship builds character... if you coddle people they just end up with anxiety disorders when they get older and have to face the real world. The way to get over fear is to face it, not dwell upon it.

For all that liberals have done right, they don't understand basic science one bit.. animal evolution, how our mind works, etc. They are ALL about feelings. They should teach some of the basic principles of visualization and affirmations in school.. teach people that they don't have to be a slave to their emotions and programming, but in fact can modify and reprogram themselves and break free of basically any cultural norm if they really wanted too.

Now for the ultimate truth... all this information on all these forums, including politics, is all completely meaningless and just distracts you from pursuing your own personal development. You're better off not worrying what other people are doing and distracting yourself with meaningless information.

It's simply not fair to expect them to be as wise as people much older than them.

But holy cow. This current crop of younger people (let's just say those under 30 or 35) are a sight to behold. The conscious decision by our educational system and its ideological masters to keep young people in ignorance has born fruit. Smashingly. The level of ignorance among younger people is simply astounding. It goes waaaaay beyond the historical patterns as mentioned above.

I don't know the answer to having so many young sheeple, but if one is not found, we are so screwed.
Better get used to being screwed, then. The Millennials are now the largest demographic, and over 25% of them are Hispanic native-born citizens. There are more millennial women than men.

As a geezer- I'll turn 72 next week- I feel they were poorly educated all the time, but I've been around long enough to know to avoid over generalization.
They are not all ignorant by any means, as many had to really struggle to get a higher education, but they have much different expectations of life than my generation, and in many ways, they are more clear-headed than the boomers were at their age.

They are certainly more closely connected to each other than we were, and much more adept in communicating with each other.

I don't worry about 'em. Every generation so far has always had pretty good leaders arise from within it here in the U.S. I don't expect the millennials will be any different in that respect.

It's funny that every generation thinks they are the last intelligent generation.

LOL. Oddly enough the handle was before any of my hair started turning grey. It came about from me arguing with pretty much everyone about the wars we have been involved in. Both sides often painted the wars as wrong, or right, and in all honesty its just never that simple. Its shades of grey.

Now of course I have my own war going on with the grey hairs starting to appear.

This is the point to be made. It takes an incredible amount of ignorance to generalize at this level. The lack of education and basic knowledge that someone who says "millenials are dumb" or "baby boomers are dumb" is beyond impressive.

It's not the Great Debates forum.

But thank you all, the Millenials appreciate your defense of their ignorance. It's beautiful to see people stand strong for a noble cause .

Do you have any actual specific examples, or is this just yet another hollow self-congratulatory rant?

I notice the OP ignored your question. I guess citing specifics isn't part of a good rant based on nothing more than opinion, feelings, conjecture or what someone said online.

BTW, OP.... Contrary to your thread title, Millennial is spelled with 2 Ns. Guess they aren't the only dumb ones.

I guess it's the Great Whining forum then. Nice cop-out.

Lol, I figured as much. Of course, now that that's being mentioned, OP will probably now respond and say that I should "do my own research" (lazy cop-out #1) or simply "accuse" me of being millennial myself (lazy cop-out #2).

People are too predictable.
