The highest court in Europe decided that head scarfs for religious reasons can de denied by business owners if the businesses don't allow other religious signs to be shown.
Great decision
Religion and business should be divided unless the business is a business that relates to religion.
One of the first smart decisions coming from Europe. Hopefully the Supreme Court will follow this advise when they have to decide on a similar case.
Companies may ban Muslim employees from wearing headscarves as long as they also forbid other religious and political symbols in the workplace, an adviser to the European Court of Justice has said
The case concerns a compensation claim from a woman working as a receptionist for the Belgian company G4S Secure Solutions, who was dismissed from her job for wearing a headscarf for religious reasons. The woman had reportedly worked for three years at G4S Belgium when she insisted on being allowed to wear the headscarf.
The company already placed a general ban on wearing visible religious or political symbols.
The European Court of Justice was asked whether forbidding the headscarf violated an EU law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of religion.
"While an employee cannot 'leave' his sex, skin colour, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or disability 'at the door' upon entering his employer's premises, he may be expected to moderate the exercise of his religion in the workplace," Juliane Kokott, the EU court's advocate general, wrote in her opinion published on Tuesday.
The advocate general's findings are only an initial view and not binding, but the EU court typically follows the adviser's recommendation.
We just came back from the Home Depot where a woman was wearing a full Burma and only her eyes could be seen... oh did I mention "a woman"... well it might have been "a man" as we can't see who is hiding behind the clothes and completely hidden face!

Perhaps it was a guy sneaking into the ladies room.

No more sales of religious paraphernalia outside of religious institutions in the US? Who would enforce this...the government?
No, a customer and they seems so strictly religious that they need to wear this kind of clothes but at the same time the person was talking on a smart phone... we were talking about how the other person can understand this person talking from behind fabric as the mouth was covered. Very weird to see.
