Essentially that is the whole reason for privacy and why I agree.

Privacy is achieved regardless of which bathroom people use. We are in the 21st century. We don't relieve ourselves outside. So I don't get your point here.

It's about safety.

It's about women and children having a safe environment to use it. And it's more than just sexual predators. If there is a woman in the restroom, a man dressed as a woman can come in and rob the woman in the PRIVACY of the restroom. Or a gang of "men" can go into the restroom and cause trouble.

This is not good. We need the appropriate boundaries to deter bad behavior and harm.

What is stopping a gang of men going into a women's bathroom now...2 years ago...or in 1985?

Your argument makes no sense. Just like gun laws, criminals don't obey the laws.

They could be ejected.

Now all they have to do is say, "I'm transgender" and they're allowed to remain and victimize girls/women at will.

Happy now LGBTs? You've successfully won the right to sexually victimize MORE girls/women. Are you celebrating that? Is that a feather in your cap?

If they are assaulting women they will be arrested. If they are just in there to do their business, who cares?

Exactly. You're requiring MORE female sexual victimization.

I really don't understand how this is requiring female victimization? Just a question, are you a baby boomer?

No it is NOT achieved regardless of which bathroom people use. That is why there is a sign on the front of the door of men or women. This is a total disregard of common sense. If your point was true then we would only have one bathroom full of both men and women. It would be far more efficient to have a single large bathroom of both sexes than to have two. People use different bathrooms because people do not feel comfortable with seeing the opposite sex change, or naked or whatever.

The safety angle is a weaker angle. It could be argued, but I don't think there is much evidence to back it up.

How is it bad to keep male sexual predators "claiming" to be "transgenders" away from girls/women?

How many more girl/women sex crime victims are acceptable to you before you admit this is a problem? Give us a number.

Anyway, transgender folks have been using the bathroom they identify with for a very long time. We didn't need laws then, we don't need them now.

It is already illegal to assault and harass someone, so for those who are afraid of a guy pretending to be transgender walking into a bathroom to assault and harass women, that is already against the law and he will be prosecuted accordingly.
People care because of privacy. That is the whole argument. If it wasn't true, then why is just about every public bathroom in the entire world divided up between men and women.

My hangup on

"How many more girl/women sex crime victims ..."

is, it is already illegal to do that. We have laws that make it illegal to sexually assault someone.

There is nothing that can prevent anyone from dressing like a woman and going into the restroom. What do want, a police officer at every restroom to check genitalia?
