What they are saying about the question Miss Hawaii got | FOX25

"A question to a contestant during the Miss USA pageant Sunday night drew the ire of the audience and hundreds on Twitter.

Miss Hawaii, Chelsea Hardin, was asked by judge Laura Brown, , "If the election were held tomorrow, would you vote Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump for president, and why would you choose one over the other?"

what a BS question! how inappropriate of them to ask her something so private. We have curtains in voting booths because it's not ANYONE's business who you vote for.

Politics and religion have no place in such a contest.

I don't like the question and don't really consider it a 'fair' question. Life isn't fair. The purpose of asking the question is to see how well the participants perform on the spot. She flubbed a little bit and may have done better on another question. She didn't get that other question. She will have public sympathy on her side. Now is her time to shine. She may do better than Miss USA.

How did I do on my beauty pageant answer?

she should have spun this into an answer about getting maps into the hands of poor people throughout the world...everybody wins, then smile.

I don't know what's more ridiculous:

*The idea that someone who willfully competes in a contest that features personal questions shouldn't be asked a question about a current event of significance, or

*That anyone cares one iota about such inane events as the Miss America Pageant

If I was the contestant I would have been FURIOUS! Not only was it a "BS question", it also set her up for contention from the opposing side of her political swing. How unfair. And I agree - that is NOBODY'S business.

I agree. Pageants in general are BS. Who cares. They have to do something to get people talking and stay relevant, lol.

1. Idiotic question.

2. "Beauty" pageants have long lost their luster.

Gosh! I would have told the questioner that was a very rude question. Once upon a time, it was considered very bad form to ask a someone what their politics or religion was. If the information is offered, fine but I think it's a very inappropriate question for to ask someone who they are voting for national TV if it isn't a show specifically about politics.

I think the young woman handled it very well.

come on people, it was an easy one to side step. And allows the person to wrap themselves in the flag, That question is a great one for anyone who has even the slightest debate skills.

I would call that question a total win for any smart contestant.
