The white house was built by many ethnic groups.. Michelle should have said that. No.. she had to just say slaves.. which is a lie .. it was built by many others who were not slaves.. black men who were free, and white men who came from many different parts of the world. that is the whole truth.

So she didn't play the slave card for the umpteenth time since she's been occupying the house that slaves built?

There is a time and place for everything. But all of her speeches seem to be about how blacks will be facing hardship and how her husband is hated. She projects a total "white people have foot on your neck" attitude.

It's a balance and fine line. We must acknowledge but this constant stamping of "you are black, you will be marginalized, you will be undermined, is self defeating. Poor whites don't do this. Chinese don't do this. Indians don't do this IN PUBLIC.

There is a time and place for it but not at a college graduation.

No...not if you actually heard the entire speech. It was about praising how far the American society had come. But based on the comments in this thread - we obviously haven't come very far.

Even that was not enough for Michelle's Democratic Party, the nation had to pass the Civil Rights Act, which democrats filibustered. Still fighting against the racist democrats we were forced to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

I'd say that if not for Michelle's racist democrats, the White House would not have been built by slaves.
Abe Lincoln wanted to repatriate all the slaves because he was afraid of the treatment they would receive after fighting the Dems his entire administration. He believed they would never get a fair shake here. The only reason they didn't do it because he didn't believe the south could recover without them. So they were an essential, respected part of the south from Abe's perspective. Too bad the Democrats didn't see it that way.

Actually we had come a long way. But we have been going backwards fast for the last 8 years or so.

Lightbulb Michelle Obama 'I Wake Up Everyday In Home Built By Slaves'

And... ?

It's now common knowledge that the White House was at least partly built by slave labor.

That's not something that was in the schoolbooks back in the 50s and 60s when I was a schoolboy, though.

It's the same ole blame game.. as if all whites were slave owners.. why don't they say the truth and talk about how half of the slaver owners were black and the first one who owned a slave was black.. they started the whole thing . Do they blame their own.. do they call blacks racists??

Why don't they talk about the lack of value they have always put on each other's life? Is this a white problem? I don't really think so.

Look at what they do to each other every day. How many blacks murder other blacks? Is it so hard to believe 400 years ago they caught other blacks and sold them? Not for me, not for a second.

The inevitable right wing pessimism and negativity.

Always so refreshing.
