Michelle's speech was intended for inspiration and to acknowledge how far America has come in regards to black Americans. And her speech said or implied nothing about "forcing her into the W.H. or chaining her up in the dungeon" (rather those are your/republican delusions.)
I suspect much of the whining in this thread is by people who did not listen or read her speech. Here's part of it.

Public education is our greatest pathway to opportunity in America. So we need to invest in and strengthen our public universities today, and for generations to come. (Applause.) That is how you will do your part to live up to the oath that you all will take here today Ė- the oath taken by generations of graduates before you to make your city and your world ďgreater, better, and more beautiful.Ē

More than anything else, graduates, that is the American story. Itís your story and the story of those who came before you at this school. Itís the story of the son of Polish immigrants named Jonas Salk who toiled for years in a lab until he discovered a vaccine that saved countless lives. Itís the story of the son of immigrant -- Jamaican immigrants -- named Colin Powell who became a four star general, Secretary of State, and a role model for young people across the country.

And, graduates, itís the story that I witness every single day when I wake up in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters Ė- two beautiful, black young women -Ė head off to school -- (applause) -- waving goodbye to their father, the President of the United States, the son of a man from Kenya who came here to American -- to America for the same reasons as many of you: To get an education and improve his prospects in life.

So, graduates, while I think itís fair to say that our Founding Fathers never could have imagined this day, all of you are very much the fruits of their vision. Their legacy is very much your legacy and your inheritance. And donít let anybody tell you differently. You are the living, breathing proof that the American Dream endures in our time. Itís you.

So I want you all to go out there. Be great. Build great lives for yourselves. Enjoy the liberties that you have in this great country. Pursue your own version of happiness. And please, please, always, always do your part to help others do the same.

So I assume you too are ok with giving her a "pass" on her past transgressions? Those transgressions flow into current speeches as well. You just choose not to see it. Had this been the first time she had ever mentioned it, probably not a word would have been said.

No the issue here is the commencement speech she just gave. As I wrote early in this thread clearly it doesn't matter to you what she said in the commencement speech.

Although I think mentioning that slaves built the White house is a bit pedantic even for the first Lady, the sole purpose of a commencement speech is for her to inspire people with how she feels about something. If she is personally awestruck with that fact she should by all means express it. I do think the right wing is quickly running out of time to find something, anything wrong with the Obama's that is not either a double standard or nitpicking.

Just like Hillary with her dated rhetoric about glass ceilings...there is no glass ceiling...if you are a capable intelligent gifted female who puts in the work you can surpass a man in any profession. Just as if you are black and you have the talent and endurance to work hard YOU WILL GO TO ANY LEVEL IN SOCIETY YOU WANT.

All affirmative action managed to accomplish was hiring cops that were 5 feet tall of mediocre intelligence and weight who for physical and mental reasons have to resort to deadly force to enforce law. Race or sex should not be used as excuse for anything...if you are capable no one can hold you down.

I remember my mother back in the fifties - she made ten times the money that men made...because she had ability and worked hard...she never blamed men or even considered that males would supress her....Feminist eccentric extremism does not serve society at all...it is a ruse.

Also as far as slaves are concerned...The first lady has to realize that it was the black African elite who sold their own people into slavery...and yes it was white people who bought them...slavery would not have existed in America if it were not for the original sales persons...who were BLACK.

Please explain how not talking about racism will get rid of racism? I'd love to hear more about this.

I wonder how many will find inspiration from having an x-soft porn star give a commencement speech telling about how spreading her legs for a camera and marrying a rich man led her to sleeoping in the White House.

How do you think racism will end if it is constantly talked about? Every time you turn around, someone is screaming that's racist. People walk around on pins and needles in hopes of not offending someone by anything they say.
