is it just me or do people not read the article contained in the links? Or is this a case of forumites projecting what they do with their own pets?

Are you allergic to peanuts?

I wouldn't expect anything else from liberals. Can't wait to see what's next. We have been warned and things that were predicted are coming true.

You must be unfamiliar with the Canadian system of government. The Canadian Supreme Court does not create laws - it simply interpretes existing laws.

You say liberals created the law. Can you back that up with a link?

P.S. - The Conservative Party was in power from 2006 to 2015. Seven of the 9 current Justices were appointed in that time period.

When I see stuff like this I don't have to wonder who created the law. It has liberal all over it.

The term bestiality did have a clear legal meaning when Parliament used that term without further definition in the 1955 Criminal Code. Bestiality meant buggery with an animal and required penetration. or, in the case of women, penetration by an animal. This was the state of the law when the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861 was enacted in England and in substantially the same form was carried over into the first English version of the Canadian Criminal Code in 1892 and continued to be in force until the offence called bestiality was introduced into the Code in the 1955 revisions.

None of those things happened in this case, so the court had no choice but to reverse that charge according to the law.

He was still convicted on many other charges. Canadian Parliament will update the criminal code.

Rather than reading a blog entry on Brietbart, which references a news report in The Independent, why not read the Supreme Court's decision for yourselves? It's right here:

Here's the ruling

Quote:
In a quixotic ruling, the country’s high court ruled that a man who was on trial for raping and sexually exploiting his own daughters wasn’t guilty of “bestiality.” The man reportedly, “smeared peanut butter on the genitals of his victims and had the family dog lick it off while he videotaped the act.”

The convicted man took his case to the Canadian Supreme Court, demanding that the bestiality charge be nullified. In the end, the court agreed.

As a result of the rape case, the court ruled 7 to 1 that humans having sexual contact with animals is OK if there is no “penetration” involved in the act.
The next time a Canadian poster tries to tell me what's wrong with my country, I'll just post this.
