'An exaggerated fear, hatred, and hostility toward Islam and Muslims that is perpetuated by negative stereotypes resulting in bias, discrimination, and the marginalization and exclusion of Muslims from social, political, and civic life'
Except with all the violence, chaos and death they keep causing around the world on a daily basis, how could one NOT have at least some fear, dislike or even hatred for them and their religion? Pretty much all the dislike people have towards them IS OF THEIR OWN DOING. And if anything Muslims have Westernphobia, namely they hate our society, our freedoms, our laws and beliefs and our way of life and they are dead set on doing things that eff us over, causing us harm and changing the very way we live.
Yeah I know just like the Jews with their Bernie Madoffs stealing our money and Christians with their KKK lynchings and clinic bombings. Haven't you learned how foolish it is to lump a whole religion into one category?
Here's a few more: "traction", "resonate", "construct" (accent on first syllable), "paradigm shift", "narrative", "I get it", and one (not necessarily political) that's really starting to bug me--"iconic".

But here's the thing. How is it the Muslim clerk on the corner is responsible for people being racist or whatever word you feel is most appropriate to him of his own doing? He's done nothing to warrant criticism or any sort of judgement. He's just a guy with a family and a job. Like everyone else, except he believes in a different magic book, or whatever. I get what you're trying to say (should I bold that to make it clear?), but what ISIS does and what Bilal down the street does aren't actually related. Seeing ISIS execute homosexuals in the name of Allah is frightening; no argument there. And while Bilal may also worship Allah, that doesn't mean he thinks people should be thrown off of roofs.
To give some credit to your point, the term 'Islamaphobia' is overused. Criticisms of the religion and a desire to remove ISIS from any power is reasonable. It's when it comes down to this whole thing of 'all Muslims' that it starts getting problematic. I've known Muslims in my life. None have been terrorists. The idea that Muslims universally cannot exist in the West is wrong. They're doing just fine. Some can't, but there are a lot of people who contradict Western values of liberty, toleration, freedom, and individualism who come from a variety of different faiths, countries, and political ideologies. For example, there are people who think Muslims don't deserve rights, but they absolute should have the right to an M60 machine gun or whatever. It's not hard to spot contradictions in people's values. Most people have them. Because most people are stupid. I'm probably stupid too, but at the very least, I make an effort not to be.
