I am surprised, however, by how many people are shocked that MSM doesn't talk about stories like this.
Controversy and divisiveness > continuity and accord for the media.
I think the majority of individuals and businesses involved locally are genuinely trying to help any way they can. People here are very united, extremely upset and are heartbroken over the loss of life. The media tries to run with stories to capture attention but I don't think most businesses, including CFA, were thinking of publicity. For those from the outside looking in, there seems to be some cynicism.
CFA says the employees decided to do it. I assume they had to ask permission but don't know how high up it had to go.
At that point CFA had to do it because you have to realize the employees are going to do a social media response either way (which they did).
How enthusiastic brass was in giving the ok is something nobody knows. I honestly have the feeling they were cool with it and the subsequent tributes at whatever level it reached within the organization. The lowering of flags at half staff at their restaurants definitely was green lighted from the top.
Just saying CFA employees are fast food employees which are generally younger folks who are much more pro-LGTB. Pics on Twitter verify.
I'm not bashing CFA here. Just looking at the business aspect.
No you don't understand that companies culture for sure.
One thing I have noticed consistently about conservatives over the last 40 years: they think they deserve a gold star when they do something that is considered just ordinary civilized behavior by other people. Like a right-wing student I knew in college who wanted to be praised for visiting her brother in the hospital while he was dying of AIDS. No honey, you don't get "extra credit" for acting like a normal human being.
Same here. That CFA location in Orlando decided to join with other restaurants in providing free food after the worst mass shooting in US history. That was the right thing to do. They don't get special props for it any more than any other business.
There were several restaurants that served free food to people donating blood and to the police and other investigators. Should they all be singled out individually for front page news for doing something good?
Yes, the probably should have been. Would be nice to have such a great positive story hit the front page along with the negative. cd :O)

Then they shouldn't get special treatment when they do something unpopular. But somehow, the treatment of CFA is unequal. Go figure...
